Our car insurance company, USAA, sent us a preapproved car loan for $30,000 at 6.75%APR for 48-60 months. Basically, you go to a car dealer, pick your car of choice (I'll take a Silver WRX Wagon w/5 speed, please) and call USAA. They will handle all the transactions over the phone. It came at the right time...cool beans!

Anyone else found a lower loan rate?

USAA rocks...I use them for auto insurance. My local bank (had better rates than USAA) did the same thing for me; however I was buying a used car from a private seller and his bank didn't want to take the preaproved loan check. I had to go back to my back for a cashiers check.

What were your insurance rates for the WRX throught USAA?

6.10% - then I have .10% deducted because I have Automatic Payroll Deduction (x2), and I pay weekly (less intrest in the long run by a few)

So a final rate of 6% flat from a local Federal Credit Union in S.Central PA.

Credit Unions are the way to go. I pay bi-weekly. Cutting a number of payments off my 5 year loan just with that. Plus I got a 5.99% rate. I have a minimum of like $1000 I have to pay in interest no matter what, but I'll probably only pay a little over that.

beethoven- We're currently paying $600 every six months for our cars, a 90 Honda Civil Si, and a 95 Honda Civic EX. If we drop the 90 SI and add the WRX we will be paying an extra $20 per month. Not bad at all. BTW,we both have excellent driving record.

And besides with USAA you get some money back at the end of the year.
