hey all,

been listening to anything new lately? dug up a cd that you haven't heard in while? somebody turned you onto something good? Well, what I find is funny, is that sometimes hiphop and electronica just rub me the wrong way, but as of late, I have really been grooving to more of a "urban" beat. There are some old fav's that float around but it's nice when a fresh breeze of music comes your way.

For me, this week has been more electroic than what I usually listen to and these are what have been in heavy rotation.

DJ Shadow - The Private Press
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Atmosphere - God Loves Ugly
Akufen - live @ E-Werk 02.2002
Jim O'Rourke - Insignificance
Spoon - Kill the Moonlight*
DNTEL - Life is Full of Possibilities

oh yeah, I also get to see, hot hot heat, dismemberment plan, engine down and the dirtmitts tomorrow night. yeeehaaaaaaw!

*to tell you the truth, this album hasn't left my ears since I got it a couple of months ago. It's all good. Easily one of the top 5 albums of the year.

Just picked up Jeff Buckley - Grace based on the recommendation of someone in the "new/interesting/off the beaten path" thread from last week or the week before...
And I still can't get enough of ...In Search Of by N.E.R.D., my pick for best album of 2002

That's weird matt - I saw them in albuquerque a few years ago on halloween, at the sunshine (or the zone, or whatever it's called this week), and it was one of the best hip hop shows I've ever seen. Oh well, I guess everyone has an off night once in a while. I listened to their new albumn the other day, and I gotta agree with AC on the fact that they have shown no forward progress.

jmonusko - grace is in my top 20 all time...

I've been listening to a lot of the pixes lately, one of my all time favorites, I just never get tired of them...

I've got a huge list of stuff I need to check out, just haven't had time lately. The wife is going on a trip with her friends this weekend, so I'll probably be downloading a bunch of stuff to check out.

You were at that halloween show matt? Didn't you think that guy MC Supernatural was so dope? I don't know if I can remember all the shows I've seen in albuquerque in the last few years (I was there from 95-00), here what I can:

The Roots
Crystal Method
Flaming Lips
Descendants
Moby
Modest Mouse
Rancid
Rocket From The Crypt
No Use For a Name
Ten Foot Pole
Jets to Brazil

And a bunch more that I can't remember - I'm sure you were at a lot of these as we seem to have similar musical tastes. I kinda miss NM sometimes, but portland is a really cool town and we get a lot of great shows here. I NEED some green chile though!
