Ive searched around for building up an engine like internals. But all I can find is all this math talk I dont understand. I just want to get back to the basics and ask the n00b question that ive been meaning to ask. With upgrading internals, like the pistons, connecting rods, cam shafts, what benefits should one expect from these upgrades with a car that has turbo? Thanks in advance.

It can survive the a high hp level and the abuse.

The ability to run more boost and resist engine damage during tuning.

can also rev a little higher safely

If you build it with a larger block (2.2 or 2.5) you will also see improved throttle response/low end for a given turbo.

You would see absolutely no benefits at all if you are not increasing power. The only benefits for this would be that you can add more power to the car than the standard WRX engine can handle.

As everyone said above, it's all a matter of how far you are going to go. Push 400+hp may require some internal work, depending on your view of reliable. While the math may seen overwhelming, it really is pretty straighforward. Pictures would help a lot, as describing these equations with text is difficult to visualize.

so that's the benefits how about the disadvantages of an built engine? milage worse? noise? shaking? anything? I have 06 wrx and this guy is selling his built 06 engine cheap...since I plan to get bigger turbo later I am thinking about getting it but like how many hp can a built engine handle up to? what's the max rpm it can run? I got standalone ecu....I definitely have to upgrade tranny and clutches right? I can upgrade to STi tranny and clutch? how many whp can the sti tranny handle up to? and other parts I need to change/strenghten if I get a built engine and a big turbo? maybe HKS 3037 or bigger . thanks

Everything depends on how it was built and what parts were used along with who built it. As most people know a good builder/tuner cannot be replaced.

Tranny is a huge part of the WRX. If you treat it correctly you shouldnt have problems.
