View Full Version : The "Official Meet" -- a success
Penphoe 02-27-2000, 06:10 PM Well, we had our first official meet and I can say it was a success! About 25 cars showed up! Patrick Richard was there along with some people from Specialty Subaru who were kind enough to bring some prizes to be given away. Pat had is digital camera out so he'll be giving me the address to where all of the photos will be.
Afterwards we went down to Boundary Bay to check out the UBC auto-x. Musta turned alot of heads with a long train of Subarus going south! http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/wink.gif
http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/mad.gif On a down side, we got into a bit of heat when some of you were leaving the Boundary Bay auto-x circuit. BB airport is private property, and the auto-x clubs are on probation due to people speeding down BB's private roads. People, please be considerate of the owners of the BB property. If this happens again, we definetly won't be welcomed to something like this. Yes, this club is new and perhaps we didn't know better, but let's not screw this thing up from the beginning.
All in all, it was a fun day! The weather held up, lotz of people showed up, and we had a good time.
Stay tooned for more information!
LaterZ!
Darren!!
Orbiter 02-27-2000, 06:28 PM Thanx for everyone who came out, i was not expecting so many subbys to come out today! We are definately growing at a phenomenal rate. I expect over 30-35 cars for our next "official" meet. We will be planning another driving day and hopefully some other activities where everyone can go. Stay tuned for the next date and hope u guys are all looking forward to what we have coming up. I am working with the council members as to some ideas for our next meets. If u have any suggestions email me directly. Possible plans: roadtrip to Seattle? auto-x day? dinner reservations? roadrace? We will also be at Boom2000 =) so all the done up ones can show off there =)
If anyone didnt get the flyers, email lexicon. He will send you the .doc file and u can print out as many as u like.
Special thanx to Patrick, Steve, and the rest of the Specialty Subaru team for coming out and showing interest in our club. We will be working closely with the service dept. at Specialty to bring all members special deals & discounts.
hmmm think thats it for now, see u all at the next meet. We will have more things to do and prizes again! =)
5 Zigen 02-27-2000, 10:32 PM Yeah...we had quite a good met today! So many Subaru showed up today and it's so nice to meet ya all! http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/cool.gif
Road trip to Seattle might be a good idea...Leon (my friend) is from Seattle (Seattle area, not downtown Seattle) and I bet he can help us out...Yet it's pretty hard to find parking around downtown or Chinatown over the weekend...so it might not be a bad idea to keep off those busy area for parking?! http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/smile.gif
Can't wait for the next meeting man...gotta be some day soon...^_^ http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/biggrin.gif

That's my favorite car for sure! It seems even taller than the Forestor!
Hehe, next time people can bring their memory card and have a GT2 competition!
GS116 02-28-2000, 04:53 AM Yeah, It's a great meet today!! It really shocked me when I counted that there were around 25 cars. But I'm really bad on names. I can only remember some of us. If we gonna post the photos up, is it possible to post who is who?
Pics are up. I haven't completed the stiching together of the panoroamics yet, but the raw photos are up. The panoramics are called "STA..." and there are 2 series, one in each direction. There are thumbnails of each photo as well, so it should be easier to post them on some site.
They are at: www.rocketrally.com/photos/van-i-club (http://www.rocketrally.com/photos/van-i-club)
Keiho 02-28-2000, 04:22 PM Great pictures!! Just too bad my car looks so plain next to the silver syms one LOL!
Clement 02-28-2000, 08:49 PM Who went to the meet anyway? There were so many ppl it was impossible to meet everyone. Who was that guy who had the silver Impreza with the syms kit?
Lexicon 02-28-2000, 11:10 PM Clement: he is the skinny dude that works at bavaria! http://208.9.184.110/NonCGI/smile.gif HEHE Nice kit eh! Nice pics Pat.. Oh yeah, I hope someone else also took photos because most of the ones I got sucked. I realize now that the camera is not good in that kind of light (bright, but dark and grey). The only ones that came out good were the 'panoramics', the ST* (A/B/C/D/E) ones. You can tell them in sequence.
Bummer. Anyone else take shots ? I have a few scanners...
damn
i can't make it on that day
looks like u guys have a lot of fun on that day
hey what u guys say we have a other one on the spring break?
I just got the pix back from SAVE ON FOOD last nite and there are some pretty good ones, include some of the pix I took last time at the Lansdowne's meeting. I will try to get them scanned ASAP and share with you all.
Oh umm I know there will be a driving school in around late April @ Mission. Don't know if that will be a good suggestion. Anyway see ya all around!
Orbiter 02-29-2000, 08:21 PM GC8: can u email me some more information. cost/exactdate/what is involved.. thanx
