Who's gonna be the first to make their WRX a donor for the Baja???

I would turbo the EJ25, more tourqe and better off boost performance. The EJ25 is well proven under boost. Mine has almost 100k miles at just a hair above 300HP.

When Templar and I get finished with his supercharger kit we are gonna mate one up to my Baja, see how that goes and if all goes well, offer it as a kit for sale. :D

Wow. Can the stock tranny and engine push 300hp without tearing itself apart?

Seems to be hit or miss on stock tranny. Shiv got like 60k on his stock tranny in the low 300s. Others go kablooee (2nd gear usually) in the upper 200s. Conventional wisdom is around 250 is safe if you don't go about slamming 2nd. I have a upgrade gear set and a stage III clutchmasters clutch with a 9lb flywheel so no problems here. The 4EAT on the other hand, has a great track record in the 300 range. Kevin Thomas ran a Minam Stage II turbo and a large nitrous kit with great success for a long time under constant racing. I would put 300 into a 4EAT and drive it like a bastard without even thinking about it.

As far as the engine goes. The EJ25 is an incredible engine for turbo conversion. It will run at 220~280 with no worries as long as your engine management is done right. 300 is the upper practical limit on stock internals but seems to still hold up well at that range. I have a fair ammount of work into mine, heads, cams, pistons... but the block and crank are stock.

Well if that's happening anytime soon let me know, otherwise i'm going ahead and turboing my baja. I love the car but it's a hair underpowered.

any price ideas on the kit? cause i just got some general numbers from subie specielties... I'm looking in the 1 grand range for installation possibly a little bit more for a custom fabricated hood scoop. If i had the extra money to spend at one time i might get the jdm hood for the legacy i've been told it's perfect fit.

Well, rumor has it that Subaru wiil offer a turbo Baja similar to the Forester...but this is all rumor...I'm not a good source I'm just repeating what I've heard. Otherwise, have fun with your boost!!!

The Baja turbo IS on the way. Look for it later in 2003. It will be a 2.5 turbo.

Also....keep an eye out for a 500 hp Baja Turbo tuned by Easy Street in CA. Should be done later this year for a tour of the west coast and the Al-Can Rally.

later on in 03? when exactly do they say they're coming out w/ a turbo baja?? i'm kinda skeptical? just curious to see if i should wait till they make one or should i just turbo the one i've got. My only concern(as expressed above) is the tranny, what can i go about doing to upgrade my drivline so second doesn't explode? i was thinking clutch, possibly a flywheel? Do you really think i'll be able to push my stock tranny to 300hp w/ just those? i'm sceptical. sigh.. i want me a fast baja

If SOA had the balls they do now when they released the Baja, they would have stuck to the original plan of the prototype STX and given it the EJ25 w/ Supercharger.
