I have a 1997 VW GTI VR6 Turbo drag car and am looking into getting a daily reliable car. I am seriously considering a 96-97 Impreza Coupe AWD 5 speed, mainly cause i ski a lot. I am looking for pics of these years, any info, reliability, quality, things to look out for, etc... I appreciate any and all information you share. Thanks in advance.

The cosmetic difference between the 96 and 97 impreza is pretty significant.

In 97 they went to a new front end, more agressive looking, much better looking IMO.

Pictures shouldn't be hard to find of the differences.

best go with 99 and over get the better ecu performance brakes and generally a better car:cool:

though I have a '96 there is alot more out there for the '97 including OEM parts and aftermarket stuff. Like all Subes the only thing you really need to watch for is the front crankshaft seal everything else holds together well. I prefer the Outback Sport Wagons for their practically and stronger suspension. Extra ground clearance helps also when it snows. Plus in the '97 and up you get the hood scoops. The '97 have a little stronger motor as well.
