I own the 1996 Impreza Brighton AWD 1.8L and I would like to add some power to it. Is it worth it? Im getting the Exedy Clutch kit this weekend (http://coximport.com/hotsheetb.html) and from there I would like to get maybe a stage one turbo.
Tell me what ya guys think....

I think if you enjoy tinkering, adding a turbo is a delightful idea! You're expectations have to be real, you're not going to be blowing away WRXs or any such thing, but it will add some pep and fun.

Chad has a Turbo 1.8L and has a bit of info about it (he also makes custom up/downpipes for turbo setups, I highly recommend)

can I get a new style bumper/hood to make it look better? Like the 1997's

Absolutely, you can either go with just a bumper from either the 97-01 "L" cars which looks decent, or the 99-01 2.5RS which is really sexy. You could also change the headlights, hood, and grill to the newer style and your car would be pretty much identical outside from the newer cars.

sweet, I could take the 2.5RS bumper/lights/hood and put it on my car ?
Also, as some of you know, the brighton does not come with a tach. Can I add this to my car? and if so, where would I go about purchasing the parts...

to add 2.5 bumper / lights
you need a new bumper beam, support, bumper, fog lights, and likely harness and relay as the brighton wasnt pre wired for fog lights....
to add hood, you have to change the grill and the headlights as well for a perfect fit...

All the front pieces will bolt on. We still have to do the bumper yet, but you can get the basic info and see the results on my web page:

Adding a tach is easy. All you need to do is get an instrument cluster from a junkyard or something that has a tach and the same style cluster. Pull your cluster out, take out the blank insert for the tach opening and put the tach from the other cluster in. It requires running like three wires from the back of the cluster to the tach for the voltage signal and ground. Very easy to do. I did it with mine and it has worked fine ever since and everyone thinks it came from the factory with one.
