I've been very impressed with my car thus far save one thing. When on the freeway doing 70-90 there is a weird humming noise from the left front of the dash/or the exterior. I think i've narrowed the problem down to that rubber piece right infront of the windshield that has a split in it to allow for the hood to raise up. I think it acts similiar to a reed and that's why it's making the noise. anybody else having this problem?

I just got a 2005 and have the same noise. Has anyone else had this and solved the mystery?

I didn't have the problem but now that you've brought it up, I'll be hearing it whether it's there or not.

You won't jut imagine it. You cant miss it. It reminds me of the speed limit indicator you used to be able to set on old Buick.

Could it be the window sealing strip? I know alot of frameless doors have this problem, although I've only had it once in STRONG crosswinds at freeway speeds and it was more like squeeky farts than a buzzing.

Definately a buzzzzzzzz and it sounds like it's in the dash to the drivers left.

I thought someone here mentioned a Service Bulletin for this very same noise.

I did. My family and I sustained 10 hours of that whooshing sound in the freeway (5) on our way to Los Angeles from the bay area.
When I got back from our trip, I called the dealer where I bought the BAJA from right away (Seaside Subaru) and informed them that the truck was great except for that humming noise that comes up when I hit 80 plus mph.
They told me to take the truck to Stevens Creek Subaru for a trouble shooting/warranty work. Props to Stevens Creek Subaru
It turned out to be the rubber gasketing on the A-pillar passenger side needed to be siliconed so that it would not start flapping during high speed
runs.
It took a whole day for the silicone to cure and it is warranty work so I suggest you take it back to the dealer right away to be fixed.

Roland, That is the first time ever that someone is giving Stevens Creek props. I have stopped by there once to ask about my boots guage and the sales and service people were talking to me as if I was a bastard child becuase I have a Baja. I will never set foot on their dealiership ever again.

Haha, sup Ben, I did have a good experience with them. I bought my WRX from them 2 years ago and one recall that was the only time my WRX set foot in that dealership. I didn't buy the Baja from them because they suck at giving price with trade-ins.
The only reason I will ever take my ride for service is when it is warranty work otherwise, I'll never let them lay a hand on my vehicle.
BTW, I still haven't found time to check out the meet that you go to on Friday nights. I really would like to hook up and talk Baja stuff with fellow baja owners.
Anyway, I already have installed the STI short shift assembly, STI tranny mount, (both came from my wrx) and an autometer carbon fiber boost gauge(this set up only cost me 100 bucks all brand new shipped from summit racing ;))
