I wonder if anyone will read this, with all the STi-ness going on.:-}

But, here goes.

The inside door handle, on driver side, is sticky. You pull it to open the door and it sticks in the extended position, instead of popping right back into the handle area.

The door opens and closes just fine, just the handle is sticky.

Has anyone run into this before?

I tried to shoot a little microfine Teflon powder on the handle's pivot area, but that has not helped. It kinda reminds me of how the door's outside lock can get a little sluggish in the winter.

I will have my dealer look at my next service, but was hoping someone could suggest what I could do.

Thanks and now I will get back to looking at the wonderful pictures of the show.

You have no location listed, so I don't know what the weather is like where you live...

But I have seen cars get like this if they get sand or salt into the door handle hinge mechanism. You'll need to take the door handle apart from the inside, clean it, lubricate it, and put it back. Should fix the problem.

You have no location listed

California foothills, about 2500 feet elevation...

They sand here when it snows, but it does not snow very much and hasn't in about 3 weeks.

My front passenger side one is sticking like this.... but only after the window was replaced due to theft. When the window guy took the door panel off, he bent the two parallel rods just ever so slightly while tring to get that stupid handle trim piece off, and now they bind on the white piece of plastic that keeps them inline. I noticed it right away and we bent it back, but now it seems to have "remembered" the bad position... have to get in there are bend it again when I do the speakers... The bend was *barely* noticable... like 1mm or so, but enough to mess it up. Perhaps some grease at that point would help?

Good question... Whatever happened.

The handle sorta came back to being not sticky. So I have not taken it into the dealer.

It got looser again a few weeks or so after I posted the original question/report.
