If you have installed the OEM 4-pot brakes, I have two questions:
Should the new rotors be cleaned with paint thinner, and/or steel wool? The layer of paint on the surfaces is probably not recomended when seating the pads....

What is the order of the shims - some are ventilated and others are solid?

Clean the rotors with the brake cleaner instead. I used to use starter fluid also. Brake cleaner work well.

I don't know about the shimms because I don't remember.

The discs have an actual layer of silver paint on them - will brake cleaner take this off? I'm suspicious that something else is needed.
If you've done this install, please speak up.....
