Not ball-bearing, it's an Mitsu 18g.

Better contact Greddy yourself about the kit, as far as I know, no one on here has it, so you wouldn't be able to find any useful inforamation on here.

I'm not too confident in this turbo. If it is essentially an 18G. The 18G does not fare to well in the DSM community. A few people have gotten good times. But the majority don't. Most people in the DSM crowd get better times with a big 16G. I think the problem is with the housing/wheel configuration. I may be wrong though. Maybe Greddy got it right. The reason I use DSM's as an example is because they've been around and tried a lot of stuff. plus they also have a turbo 2.0 liter. Just my thoughts.

Greddy rep. claims 400hp at 25 psi with this turbo.

A black WRX with this turbo, greddy e-manage, exhaust, etc. 18psi got 267 whp

SOunds like you are refering to the WRX in the Turbo mag. article? If that is the case how do you know it took 18psi to get that 267whp #? Just curious. Becuase if you know that can you tell me EXACALLY what other upgrades were done to the car besides "exhaust, etc."? I only ask becuase if there as minimal mods done to that car as exhast (catback, turboback?) and FMIC then that hp number is pretty impressive.

Thank you.

I E-mailed Ryan at Irvine Subaru since I too was curious about this turbo and that's what he stated...the magazine article doesn't mention these figures, but does mention his mods. I don't have the article in front of me to quote everything he's done besides the e-manage.

400hp was e-mail response from a greddy tech.

Rob's car had a turbo-back,boost control, up-pipe, e-manage (only using fuel adjustment) and a front mount at the time of the article (the turbo too, but that should be obvious;)).

We've since done fuel pump, injectors and some other things. GReddy has a bigger turbo kit that we're testing right now as well. If you post questions about this kit to this thread I will do my best to answer.

How does this turbo compare size wise to say a PE1820 or VF-22.
I'm figuring it should be right in the middle. It is an 18G but it is only a TD05 so it is not typical of what the DSM guys run. I am cdurious also how the spool is! This is for the T518Z i'm asking.

Roughly speaking:

VF22 = 430-450cfm
18g = 600cfm
1820=650cfm

From the looks of the dyno in the mag. article he got full tq by about 4000rpm. And from the looks of the mods you probably won't get much better than that. Maybe if you go completely catless (I am assuming there is one cat in the turbo back exhaust) and an intake of some sort you will get it to the high 3000rpm range. So lag seems comparable to an 1820 sadly.

I think one of the main reasons you don't see the 18g used in the DSM community much is becuase of the price/performance gains. I hear the DSM guys say just get a large 16g = 550cfm for cheaper or spend the extra $50-100 for a 20g. From what I have heard from guys who have the 18g on their DSM's seem to like it quite a bit. Even the 18g from Greddy.

Any updated information on the t67 kit he now has in his car? i.e psi,whp, etc.

My friend has a GS-T and uses a 20g. He has more lag but the top end is sick. I saw him pull a 12.87 on slicks.

It sure would be nice if you could get a simple 16G for the WRX for the price of a DSM 16G and avoid paying Greedy or HK$ prices. Heck, the normal 16G (small) would be OK...I went 114MPH in a 3350lb race weight DSM with one of those.

What shop is likely to adapt a DSM turbo to the WRX? Buschur Racing? MachV? A nice way to add more volume to their sales...

You can get a 16G for WRX. I read a thread somewhere on here that earlier WRX Sti's (version5?) came with 16G turbos. It also has that funky flange that we need to mount it on the OEM style uppipe. The only drawbacks are that the inlet needs to be changed to the current style and the oil line uses different threads. I plan on going this route in the future as they can be had, rebuilt, and reworked for less than $800 total.
