I'm interested in the metal extension part under the shift knob on the sti. Is this an extension or built into the shifter stick. Hopefully you people know what I'm talking about.

I assume you mean that thing which looks like a metal disk with a black edge - that is unique to the 6-spd transmission - if I had to guess, you probably push down the shift knob to that point to get into reverse
