This is the second place I'm posting this. If this is angering you moderators, I'm sorry I'm just a newbie and don't know if this is o.k.

Are the RS gen2 cars faster than the gen1 cars?

I believe the MY02 body style is more aerodynamic than the first generation Imprezas -- especially the RS. The older RS had a drag coefficient of something like 0.35 -- I call mine the flying blue brick! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif

On the other hand, the MY02 Impreza's are heavier.

In addition to what he asked, are the engines themselves any different?

Nope. Major difference are the 98s and 99+ models. Phase I DOHC vs. Phase II SOHC.
But 2000+ models gets MAP instead of 99's MAF sensors. No blown up MAF sensor for 2000+ owners to worry about. New Age Impys use the same engine as the 2000 and 2001 GC8 Imprezas.

Subie Gal,
Thanks for having patience. I'm just a dumb newbie learning the ropes.

I don't know what the lynch rope is but it doesn't sound like I want to "learn" it.
