Yeah yeah I know...I post about this enough..
for 130 dollars in parts...t-belt and h20 pump with assorted gaskets and such....I did it myself in the garage in 4.5 hours.
Problem....DOHC cars will spin the driver's side cams faster than you can blink. The special tool was no help. the cogs were oriented waaaaay wrong. I put everything back, it's all aligned, the car runs....
Problem number 2....I overheat terribly. this relates to the post in the general forum "Subaru is no help when dealer messes up" The answer is as such....jack the car up.
From board member Ryan plum..."talked to Steve (head tech ) and Dennis (powertain guy).....they didn't even
flinch.
Jack the front of the car up!. vent the air.Got to get the radiator above
the engine and get the bubble out. then when you think you've got all the
air out, take the car out and "race the hell out of it" full throttle, quick
jerks, etc. really shake it up. but first, JACK THE CAR UP......"
huh....the stuff you learn.
