Hey I just did a drag day for my first time. I was curious if you guys could help me with areas of improvement, well I know that is pretty much impossible, But I am curious at what my set up is capable of. I have the following mods

Custom 3" turboback exhaust
resonator mod
k&N panel filter
GFB blow off valve (no advantage of that really)

my best run was:
r/t: 1.005
60: 2.015
330: 5.91
1/8: 9.2
mph: 76
1000: 12.000
1/4: 14.43
mph: 93.2

I thought that I should be running better times, It really sucks when modded rsx's and integras aren't far off of your heals.

My launches weren't the best, but I just need some info from you guys who really know how to read time slips
Thanks
Jerry

It all comes down to your 60' time. 1.8 will get you low 14's like 14.0 or 14.1

Get better at launching and you'll be fine.

I ran my car at the track 3x and on the 3rd time I got

R/T-- .757
60'-- 1.909
330-- 5.779
1/8--- 9.014
MPH-- 76.38
1000- 11.792
1/4- 14.173
MPH- 93.89

The wind was head on that day 20-30mph with gusts up to 45mph which sucked cuz It really slowed me down at the end.

My car was completely stock also. I know have the HKS carbon Ti which HKS says adds 10-13hp at the wheels so I wonder what I could run now. I'm hoping 13.9x's

Total stock car, NO MODS! Didn't clutch slip or dump. Sacramento was... 15 secs. flat.

Not to bad for not beating on my car.

Your times are not that bad for your 60 foot times. I think you would see significant gains with the addition of a $30 Manual Boost Controller (MBC). The stock controller tappers boost to 11 or so psi after 4000 RPM. The manual will hold the boost much better to redline. I dropped almost 0.5 seconds with this alone (Don't do this mod without a boost gauge to tume it in). You should be able to get better at launching with pratice. Also try raising the tire pressure. This will help 2 fold. It will give you better MPH at the end and help out with bogging (allow the tires to spin at lower RPM's). Once you get your launch to a point where your RPM's don't drop more than a few hundred through first gear you'll be set.

Good Luck,

Looks like you aren't shifting at redline either. My car turned 2.5mph faster than yours stock. With your exhaust (even without boost mods), you should be > 95mph. Shift right before cut in first 2 gears and try at 7k in 3rd (but if that is all you are trapping, you aren't shifting to 4th...and definitely get a boost controller.

I know your 60ft time is a big part of your qtr. mile time....
What rpm are you guys launching at? Heard a couple guys talk about redline clutch drops, but isnt that a little hard clutch/tranny?
whats a good rpm to launch at?

Hold at 3k, when the first light comes on, floor the gas, and quickly slip when you hit 5k revs.

I am under the impression to hold 3 until the light comes on..then go to 5...and before the light drops rev to 7 and slip 1/2 out the clutch and then floor it and dump. The object is to try and hold a constant boost. Really, u should hold at 5k, but if u do....the boost will drop quickly, so thats what the rev to 7k is for.
