So, for all you guys with the big numbers, what does a mid to low 12 second pass feel like? Is it crazy? Is your head back in the seat? Come on, let's see if any of you are good descriptive writers!:cool:

i;ve been in a 12 second fox body mustang and a 12sec 1g gsx. lots of head snapping torque

I wish I can remember, I am so use to driving a 12 sec car (The WRX that is). It feels normal to me.


...Though I am more of a high/mid 12 sec car.

1st & 2nd gear use to just throw me back and hold me. 3rd gear use to just "push" me back.

I agree with need4boost, now since its a daily driver it loses that special feeling that it once had when I first got everything installed. You know what that means.......time for a little more power.

I can tell you about a mid 10's @140's on a yamaha R1 in two words. Hold on :eek:

oh yeah that's what I'm talking about. I was just looking at the R1 this past weekend.... oh so sweet. and only 10K :) I'm looking at the limited edition in black with the red flames. Oh and a 12 second run is a bit slow for me, I run consistent low 12's on the WRX with trap speeds in the 113's. You get used to it. I think 10's or 9's would be considered quick for me :)

I dont get threads like this.... If you want to know what it feels like build a 12 sec car, or ride in one ect ect. How can you possibly convey how it feels in text on a message board. Its like people that ask street lugers how it feels when they wreck, the only responce is "get in your car go to the freeway set the car in Cruise control at 60 and then open the door and jump out." There is a perfectly reasonable text explaination, but does that mean you are going to try it? Probably not so you will really never know what it feels like. If you want to know dont ask, go find a way to make it happen.

One day it feels impressive, the next just okay. I agree on you get used to it and it becomes no big deal. Shoot, I am anxious to get to the track since my car feels slower than it used to although I know it really can't be since I upgraded to an even larger turbo.

Well, you just used "text" to adequately describe what a luge crash is like, so words can be used to describe a physical experience (even though your writing stinks and you spelled response, explanation, and et cetera incorrectly). The next time you want to know what sex feels like, don't ask. Go out and try to get some, even though by your tone you aren't very good at it.

My dad has a Mazda RX7 FD3S R1. The R1 has better suspension, stock over tower strut bars and twin oil coolers in the bumper. it is slightly modified to 350 hp at the flywheel. It is a low 12 second car if everything is running smoothly. It is faster than anything stock or slightly modified on the street except a Ferrari F40 or F50. I have driven it and beaten a bigblock AC Cobra. Yes you do feel the car slam you into the seat.

Actually, if you want to get technical, I'm about to graduate with a GPA of 3.8 and a degree in professional writing and publication. I understood perfectly what you are trying to say - that I should go out and drive/ride in a 12 second car, not ask people what it's like. Well, right now I don't have that option available to me, so I asked for people's impressions.

If you weren't a miserable s.o.b. and didn't flame me in the first place, then I guess I wouldn't have to flame you back. Do us all a favor and check out www.zoloft.com for some helpful hints on alleviating your depression. If that doesn't work, don't spread your misery on this forum. We don't need it.

Hehe, I've caught myself talking to my tranny a few times as well before doing dragstrip launches.. I've never had a 12sec. pass in my wrx, but I've ridden in an 11sec. corvette, and an 12sec. Talon. After riding in both those cars, the next time I went WOT in my wrx the only gear it felt fast in was 1st!:lol:

It's kind of a disapointing feeling actually, makes me want to spend money on upgrades!:p :D

well, if you are curious, just turn the boost up to about 16 and make a run down the street, then turn it back down ASAP. imagine that, but amplified. its all relative, so its hard to describe.

"it puts you back in your seat" or "it throws you back into your seat" are both vague terms since to a person who has only driven a geo metro all his life, a stock WRX will "throw you back into your seat" and scare the crap outta them! i only know what low 13's feels like and i know what mid 13's are like and i know what high 13's are like... all i can say is it puts you back in the seat more the faster you are.:alien:

It's really not a big deal, at first you just sit there in your car like thie :D :eek: :cool:

Then after you get used to it, it's no big deal at all. Feels like normal driving until you get behind the seat of another car. My body learns to brace itself without my control when i put on the power so it doesn't throw me in the seat.

Seriously, a 12sec run feels like being kicked in the pants by a ram! An 11sec run feels even better though<<<<<driven my buddy's Supra.

In my Mitsu Running mid 12s felt fast at first but wore off pretty quick.

I still haven't got used to mid 11s on the street though. It's the rate of acceleration and how quick you catch up to cars travelling normally that freaks me out a little.

Holy crap dude, I just sold my beater car (89 dodge colt) and I had no idea that there were turbo models of it.

Just wanted to say that 11seconds in one of those cars is really impressive. I went 110mph in the colt once and it felt like it was gonna shatter to bits.:lol:

Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it! The turbo models were quite different than the base 1.5L cars. They came with big 4 wheel disc brakes, excellent suspension, different seats/interior and lots of other stuff. It's actually a very solid car. I put about 80-100 miles a day on it, which includes the occasional jaunt to 150 mph or so. :devil:

Underdog~ Sweet car man, I really enjoyed looking though your site. Man that 55-85 jump is insane! So how sleeper is your car? Do you get pulled over often (Loud exhaust, etc). How much money have you put into the car to get it that fast? Have you done any weight reduction mods?

I regret selling my 1992 Eagle Summit. That was my first car. I found out that I could have swapped a 4g63 engine into the lil hatch a little to late. Anyways I found this website (http://www.mirageturbo.org/) and now I want to repurchase my old car and start on it as a project in the future. As the 21 ucf student enters his friends 12sec WRX. Its his first time ever and he is excited yet nervous, because like most he is scared of what he doesnt know. They buckle down and role to the line at the track staring dead at the red light knowing tha that once it turns green it will be the beginning of the journey down the strip that will only last 12 sec, yet feel like an eturnity of phyiscal, mental, and emotional craziness. Driver notices his nervousness and say "hold on"...with a devilish grin. passenger looks at the drive thinking "gee thanks for the advice. I feel so much more comfortable". He eye balls the right light and then it begins. The tree beginns the trickle down and the motor is growling as if some one just made the lion mad. Yellow light dims out, green light comes on. Air/fuel travels through the engine causing combustions, flaring out the exhaust and they are off on their journey. 1st gear he is suxed into the seat, sweaty palms holding the door hand and bottom of the seat. shift in gears gives a quick break and they are flying again.....(getting to long)...he loved the experience and couldnt wait to create his own 12sec car

12 second quarter miles don't feel to bad, but 10 second 1/4 miles REALLY feel good :)
