According to Autosport.com, Tommi will be retiring at the end of the 2003 season. I hate to see him retire, but...
...lets start the silly season of who should replace him next year! Young charger or seasoned veteran? Rovanpera might be available...
Tensen 01-16-2003, 10:16 AM I would like to nominate myself for the job...
fengshui-fu 01-16-2003, 10:55 AM I heard Timo Makinen was coming out of retirement (if he isnt dead already) to drive a Mini Cooper-S in 2004. Just a rumor mind you

mykrrrr 01-16-2003, 11:25 AM I'll throw my hat into the ring. :D
I'd like to see Colin back @ Subaru. :)
Perhaps Pat Richard???

brainrally 01-16-2003, 11:51 AM I hear Juha Kankunnen is looking for work.
Rallychic 01-16-2003, 11:55 AM Hmm...Only time will tell...

TOMMY B 01-16-2003, 12:23 PM Now I know for a Fact !!!! That I'm over the hill at the age of 35.
Getting older and RALLY ON //////////////////////
Subie Gal 01-16-2003, 12:44 PM i am sure that whatever happens...
subaru will keep at least one seasoned veteran on their team....

MulletSlayer 01-16-2003, 03:26 PM I bet if he has a really good season he won't retire, but if he does let Pat fill his seat.
AndyRoo 01-16-2003, 04:30 PM darn, i'd hate to see him go.
Subaru better get some old school veteran. Kankkunen would be sweet, but i have no real idea.
Dr. WOT 01-16-2003, 04:49 PM I think age an experience would be a good complement to Petter.
MulletSlayer 01-16-2003, 06:52 PM Sainz would be good. He doesn't win a lot but he is consistent, and with the new points system that is going to pay off more then ever.
SubaruWRC 01-16-2003, 07:03 PM If it dose happen, i think Subie Gal should get the seat.
Jiffy:D
6 Stars 01-17-2003, 10:28 AM I'd like to see Subaru start pursuing and sticking with some of the up-and-coming young talent. Citroen has Loeb, Ford has Duval, Hirvonen and Martin (who Subaru had and let go), Peugeot has Pykalisto...it would be good to see Subaru run a third car for a blossoming star, not rent-a-rider Achim Mortl as they did last year.
ShockWave 01-17-2003, 12:17 PM I think it is a mistake to consider Petter an up and comer at this point. He has a race win and a second in the driver's championship, that strikes me as proof of experience. They could bring in another young gun and use Petter as the vet.
I am very sorry to see Tommi bowing out, especially since he is my favorite driver, but better to get out while you're still quick than be a speed bump for the field.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Pugs release someone after this season, they have a lot of money tied up in drivers. That might be a good spot to pull someone from.
It's sad to see Tommi go, one of the most successful rally drivers of all time. I'll be cheering for him this coming season!
I think he has never been the same after the accident that knocked out Risto and nearly killed the both of them.
He probably realized that it isnt so worthwhile to put lives in danger by trying to gain a bit more speed.
Clegg 01-18-2003, 03:05 PM well watching the 2002 season, you can see there is like this dark cloud over Tommi... every rally, every event... the car was against him. sucked very much... felt bad for the big guy.
