Is it possible to bypass the coolant on the trottle body for more HP? Has anybody done, seen, or heard of anyone doing this?

It is deffinatly an easy mod that shouldn't cause any problems. Only might gain 1 h.p. as our intake manifold is directly over the motor and soaking up heat anyway.

It's also a spider design that has air flowing underneath it instead of being in contact with the block. This isn't unusual for a horizontally opposed motor, but it is *not* the norm for other cars that this coolant trick is popular on.

In short, I wouldn't bother.

Whats the purpose of running coolant through the TB anyway?

I e-mailed cobbtuning and they basically said the same thing. Oh well.

That might be because Josh (first reply) works for Cobb Tuning and answers some of the email. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif

Running coolent through the throttle body is supposted to prevent throttle body icing at really cold temperatures. Some say it warms the incoming air in those same cold temps but I don't believe it. Personally I don't think it ever gets cold enough in Michigan to ice a throttle body... but they don't sell cars only in Michigan.
