After i installed my aftermarket pioneer cd deck. I have to jump my car to start it. I dove the car around for like 20 mins ta charge the battery up, but it still dies within 10 mins after shutting the car off. And i have no gauge(instrument panel) lights do u think its sumthing with the cd deck. ???
If there was a constant power, the cd deck would work after the keys are out of the car, but it doesnt. So im kinda stuck on why i have a major power draw.

With a drain that heavy, i'd look more to the amps not being switched properly with the ignition, either that or someone wired a cap in the system badly, and created a constant/instant battery drainer for you. Disconnect the whole mess up front and have someone experienced check the wiring setup.

yah, that's gotta be wired up wrong for sure. take off the
negative battery lead and see if you can find where the contant
and switched wiring are on your pioneer. dont keep draining
your battery as your alternator's gonna be pretty tired after
a while (well, after a long while, but still, not good to drain the
battery like that).

like ShadowIMg with a drain that severe I'd be looking at whatever amps you may have added. If you didn't add any see if a new battery helps, it might just be your battery's time to pass on ;)
Unless your alternator hasn't/isn't charging the battery I would think a fuse would have popped or you would smell something burning in your car if its just the headunit.

if your odometer isn't displaying anythingwhen the car's off, either your battery or the fuse under the hood for "inside cabin" or something like that is blown. how many times have you had your car jumped before? i've usually never heard of problems until after like the 3rd jump or a few years.

i see this problem all the time at my shop. people install their own stuff and sometimes it goes wrong. no worries. what typically happens is that you tapped you constant or acc. wire into a lead that it wasn't meant for. many cars, including the wrx have wires that lead to the head unit that are not powering the unit. in fact they are just relayed from the rest of the dashboard lighting to the unit to complete some elaborate circuit that the car companies have thought up to disgurage people from messing with their cars. haha. but really, the power is most likely hooked up to the wrong power lead. as for you dash lights, when people do this it sometime blows the fuse, just replace it. otherwise once the headunit is rewired and not draining, they should work again. ran into this problem a lot.
