I am thinking of buying a 30/32mm SKM shifter chassis/kart with a KT-100 to race in the Yamaha SSX CAN/Sportsman class. The guy bought it and raced it 1 or 2 times. Its a great deal, Magnesium wheels, front brakes, etc, and he put a least a 1000 into the engine, but he owns a chain of bike shops and does not have time to race it. My question, for you experienced kart racers is - Do you think the chassis is too stiff for the lower HP Yamaha? Would I be that better off with a complete 30mm tubing chassis like the Margay Brava 1.2? This will be my third year of karting.
Thanks for any advice.

I race sprint road. I previously ran a Margay Brava 1.

If I am not mistaken the chassis may be too soft for the kt100 motor and class.

The big question willdepend on your tire rules relating to chassis stiffness. If you have to run a spec or harder tire in the kt100 class a stiffer chassis may be needed. Also kt100 classes around here dont allow front disc brakes.

yeah, usually front brakes are allowed only for 125 shifters, but rarely for anything lesser. i race a margay brava 1 in formula Y, and its stiffness adjustability with removable bars and whatnot worked out pretty well. trackmagic karts seem to be popular around here. rotax max is a great class, if there is a bunch of them around for good competition.
