I'm just curious, as with probably many others here, which designs have been track proven as mentioned on the rota website. Maybe if people know, this can save people the danger of one cracking or breaking after track use.

We all know about the Rota Subzero Gary Sheehan uses is proven, but what else is there? What other styles are there that have been proven on a track? in the US or Asia or anywhere Rota wheels have a track to be tested and driven on.

I personally have the Slipstreams, no track time on em yet, so I dunno nor am I seriously concerned... but I am just curious. Thanks.

ok well since no one has had anything to add yet, let me just say the Slipstreams on Honda applications have never had a single problem. track, street, curbs... and the wheels have held up fine. this is from the experience of an entire web board of hardcore honda owners who track, autoX, and sometimes drive into various damaging things.:lol:

Seeing as Rota is ALWAYS in Grassroots Motorsports, I'm sure there's quite a few of them hitting the tracks on a regular basis.
Most of the people dissing Rota on this board don't seem to comprehend that fact or that the Subaru community isn't the only one that Rota has fitments for. Hondas of all sorts and Miatas quite frequently use Rotas.

I've had no problems with my SubZ's and I have over a year of beating on them including a mild spin in the rain and mud at a track.

I'd start the list with:

SubZero
Slipstream
Circuit8
Tarmac

Simple to "comprehend"

Honda < 2700 lbs
Miata < 2300 lbs
WRX > 3000 lbs

A good possibility those other marques also use smaller diameter wheels, as opposed to the 17"-18" sizes typical on Imprezas.

That said, I have abused my SZs in a variety of harsh conditions over the course of a year with no visible problems so far.

You didn't hit a corner, you hit a CURB! That was at least a 3 inch corner you hit.

I was thinking this as well...plus our offset may contribute to higher stress on the wheel...any engineers in the house that care to hypothesize on this?

agreed, that sounds like a racing incident to me.

Actually, if you go back and look at what I drive a WRX Wagon posted, you'll see that the first picture is of some BBS wheels and the second is his Rotas. The BBS wheels look destroyed, while the Rotas just have a pretty bad bend. To me, that means he's saying the Rotas stood up to some severe abuse better than the BBS wheels did on similar cars at similar speed in the same corner.

Did I get that right, I drive?
