I'm searching for a good, if not factory, shop manual for my 99 Impreza. Does anyone have any leads?

if i remember right you have to buy every rs maual up to the model change to get a "FULL" set and the price was really expensive in the hundreds of dollars, if you find it cheaper somewhere's else let everyone know cuz i'd buy'em for sure.....good luck.

baloney...
just buy the manuals pertinent to your needs...
and you'll be just fine...

for our cars.... there are several different books...
the larger (500+ pages) books retail for around $45-50
and include electrical, brakes, suspension how to's...

all depends on what you're after.
you dont "have to" buy all 10 volumes.

Hm.

According to the shop manual page on subaruparts.com MY99 and older did the annual update method of printing shop manuals, with only the year to year changes printed in each book, meaning there are 7 manuals for '99 @ $808.69. MY2000+ has a new one printed each year for ~$300

But if you've got access to different books for sure let them know. :)

Horatio is correct- you can buy just a 1999 manual, but you will only have the changes from the 1998 to 1999 model year in it. In order to get all the information for a 1999 Impreza, you have to buy 1993 to 1999. Each year was one book, and the next year's book was an addition to the previous year's. Terrible, but it's true :). 2000 was the first year of the seperate, complete manuals by model year. 2004 may be the first year of the service manuals on CDRom too :).
