View Full Version : SSR Competition rims
Pete Holt 05-17-2001, 10:45 AM Does anyone have these rims on your car. They sound pretty sweet at 12lbs. each in 17in. If anyone has these I would love to see a picture. Yeah, I know you can see them at tire rack, but it's just not the same. Please post some pics.

these are not on my car but i photoshoped this. i'm not particularly good at photoshoping. but i think they look good. i don't beleive that the ones fom tire rack look exacly like these. nor are the ones from the tirerack availible yet. i believe that the tire rack ones have a plolished lip and these don't.
bruno 05-18-2001, 12:15 PM how bout putting them on a 2.5 rs impreza
harrydog 05-18-2001, 06:54 PM I emailed Tirerack to ask them if the SSR Comp was available in 16" for the WRX. Their reply was that the Comp was not manufactured to fit the WRX but the Integral was.
Why would they list it on their site then?
Do they know what they are talking about?
Anybody else talk to them about this?
Scooby South 05-18-2001, 07:18 PM here you go....

drftsub 05-19-2001, 12:36 AM Anyone know if they come in white? I like the Bronze but we dont need another Blue Rex with bronze wheels http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif
Nate
autorex 05-19-2001, 10:10 AM If you order them from Japan they come in Silver, Gold, and White. Tirerack only sells the anthracite w/polished lip.
paulw 05-19-2001, 11:09 AM Does anyone know how to order these directly from Japan or a US source for the other colors?
Ginseng 05-19-2001, 12:30 PM Yes,
A source for the SSR 17" in silver would be appreciated.
Pete Holt 05-19-2001, 05:36 PM I agree. Anthracite would be nice, but if we could find some shiny silver ones that would be awesome. Anybody...Bueller, Bueller
BradWRX 05-19-2001, 08:42 PM harrydog,
Here is the Japanese website for SSR. I don't think there is a desireable fit in 16", unless you can live with 16x7j 5/100 et 48, in at 5.03 kg (11 lb, wow is that lite). ET diff. of 7 mm but 1/2 wider rim. What does not show here in specifications at this and most of the information from the manufacturer is hubcentric fitment. Everything may be ideal but if it is not hubcentric, forget it. I don't even want a wheel with add on hubcentric rings. So there is much to a proper fitment and that takes lot's of investigation etc.

I know that some wheels are made in different sizes than what some vendors carry. That happens sometimes, I trust Tirerack in getting what is available within reason (supply/demand thing). I have been to their home office/shop many times and they have not steered me or my friends wrong.
A good fit is available (SSR comps) in 17x7.5j et50 in at 12.6 lb, nice! But the price will be $375 at the rack. Still a great performance rim for the price.
My track wheel on my BMW M3 (17x8 on 235/40-17) is the SSR Integral A2 and I love it. The above site does not show a good match for 16" in the Integral, but if Tirerack said it is available, it must be than. Maybe this site is not up-to-date? That is why somethimes we have to trust the vendors available to us.
Good luck,
Brad
wrxracer 05-20-2001, 10:09 AM yes, i called and talked to noah at ext272 at the tire rack, they will fit. they are supposed to get them and the pro drive P1's in by the end of june. call and talk to him, 17's are going for $375.00ea wheel. very expensive. i just got my cobb tuning wheels in the proper offset of 53mm i will run a 225/45-17 will post pics as soon as i get some..hope this helps http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

gr8r rex 01-23-2009, 04:24 PM HOLY ****... this is a 8 year hold bump! HAHA, I`m looking at buying a set currently! There have been some issues with strength in the older ones, but besides that, I heard they are good light wheels!
Marlons101 01-24-2009, 02:04 AM ya i picked up a set. but have read little things about them in the suby community...mostly on miatas and bmws about what you said on issues. Which they I guess seem to figure out. Tirerack Still sell them?...
chazly413 01-24-2009, 03:08 AM ^ Yup.
Daishi00 01-24-2009, 09:19 AM 1) Don't bump 8 year old threads that are in the wrong forum ;)
2) Which SSR Comps? There have been about a half dozen versions and variations over the last 8 years. You got your USDM models, your JDM models etc...
