Lifino 06-07-2001, 02:43 PM Tapper, that thing looks cool... Who makes it? Tamiya? I'm not big into bikes, but I've been wanting to dig into a good engine and it looks like that's about all there is to that thing... Not too hot on the translucent, but still cool.
I'm getting ready to paint my Impreza tonight. Doing it black like my car. After that I think it'll be ready for final assembly and decals. My Fiance this morning picked up the dash and couldn't believe that I had painted it... It's looking good. :D
Hey, you guys don't know of any Modeling forums do you? Another UBB like this one but only about models? I've looked before and only found FAQ and Display sites, never any with semi-realtime discussion/showoff... Then again you guys are always able to answer my questions too...

ELUSIVE 06-07-2001, 02:58 PM I have the 1/18 scale Autoart model of the Burns Rally car. Its quality and likeness to the real thing is simply awesome.
It even has the Prodrive markings on the seats...and the Sabelt harnesses.

b_tapper 06-07-2001, 03:17 PM Yes it's a tamiya kit. They came out with all of these clear body kits, and well I had to have one. The motorcycle kits are probably the hardest to build. Not hard because it's a bad kit, hard because of all the parts and painting. I love challenging kits like those.
I know of no model car forum like the i-club. There's probably one out there. Look how long it took me to find the i-club.

hee hee hee, Come on Tapper! You know me by now! Haha! Yes, I already have that new Kawasaki, they had it at TamiyaCon, I almost bought it, but settled for the GT3. I did buy it however, just recently. I have about 7 bike kits in my notorious backlog of 50+ models... hee hee
Gotta fly!

b_tapper 06-07-2001, 03:53 PM It was so funny today. I walked into the hobby store and looked at the model kits. Saw the Kawasaki and you read my mind that's exactly what I want. I love my hobby store :)

jaybird 06-08-2001, 07:26 AM That's a sweet bike Brian! I dig the transparent body. J&C Hobbies rules. I used to work with this guy that was really into slots. He always raved about that place! Post when you get your kit I was hoping to get mine before the weekend, but looks like I'm out of luck?
The only think about that Kawasaki though, is that Tamiya also just released TS-52 Candy Lime Green, which is the color of the new Ninja. So the dilema: paint the body, or not? The new color looks very nice, but then what was the purpose of having a transparent body?
Doh! Decisions, decisions..... Ah! Solution! Make two models paint one, and keep the other see thru! Hee hee!
Gotta fly!

b_tapper 06-08-2001, 11:20 AM I got an even better idea, leave one side transparent and paint the other side :D

8Complex 06-08-2001, 11:41 AM http://scalemodel.net has a few boards that might be what you're looking for. Granted they're wwwboard, not UBB, but they still work.
it's all about the 22B! Got that one in 1/18 sitting next to the R34 Skyline GTR almost the same blue but the GTR is darker but both are totally bad @$$!
jeffg 06-08-2001, 12:03 PM I used to build models all the time. I have been out of it for a long time. Maybe some of you can help me get back into it. I am looking for a series of models that have several WRC cars in it. I want a super detailed kit...like the Hasegawa CH series. Does anyone know of a series like this? I want lots and lots of details, preferably in a 1/18th scale. Thanks for the help.

jjameson 06-08-2001, 12:13 PM There are a few model UBB's, kind of. Check Yahoo egroups. There are several usually related to the type of models. There is a F1 model group, a GPMA (Grand Prix Model group kind of generic competition cars) there is also a GT1 group, a rally group, and a GP bike group, as well as others. I belong to 4 or so of them. They are basically email groups. When someone posts a email it gets sent to all in the group. It can kind of clog up your email but I think you can view them from yahoo on the web as well. There is a lot of competition auto knowledge as well as kit building knowledge out there. The boards are very international. Some of these groups are supported by a web page.
Formula 1 Modeling site (http://www.f1m.com/)
GPMA site (http://www.gpma.org/)
The Rally car model group also has a site but my link is at home.
Me, I own prolly over 300 kits. All scales 1/12th - 1/43rd. All compition kits, F1, sportscars, GP bikes, rally, etc . I write for the Internet Modeler (http://www.internetmodeler.com).
This is a monthly online model magazine that is mostly planes and armor as I am just about the only auto writer. I have won several awards in the past few years at local shows as my skills get better and better. You can check out my photopoint site which has a lot of my built models as well as some model references and of coarse some 1:1 WRX stuff.
