Just had my install done yesterday for the Oil Pressure and Temp gauges yester. I'm using a Greddy Sandwich adapter which by the way seems impossible to get a good seal.

I keep getting bad readings though from my Oil Pressure gauge. It's come and goes though. At first it worked fine. Then I got the warning light and it showed no oil pressure at all. Well it was reading right at 0. Checked wiring and it seems fine. Lights work and the manual says if you get a quick flash on the warning light you have a bad harness connection, if it's slow it's a short circuit in the sensor or harness. Well I get neither. Just 0 on pressure or slightly above. This morning I turned it on and it worked fine again.

Can anyone tell me the best route through the engine compartment to avoid the iginition system interference? The place that did the install ran the wire up between the windshield washer tank and the engine. Also, I notice that the line has a noticable leak. Not too big but worthing fixing. Aren't my lines running right past the ignition system? Would this be worth fixing.

Also have a leak in the uppipe from them installing the EGT sensor
Unfortunately I need to fix it on my own this weekend. Already paid the shop but I am out of town for two days mon and tues. I don't want a leaking uppipe and oil line driving all over Michigan. Really sucks

Uppipe Leak, Oil Leak, No reading on the Oil Pressure gauge, and also the lights weren't hooked up at all so I needed to wire that when I got home.

i only have an oil temp gauge, but i ran mine behind the IC, along the cruise control, down following the o2 and egt factory sensor wiring. i don't think you should be getting interference though with the way you have it routed. the only time i would imagine you would experience interference would be if you're near the battery or big current carrying wire.

Also, I notice that the line has a noticable leak. Is this a mechanical gauge? which line has a leak?

No. It's an electronic warning type. The leak appears to be in the braided line between the fitting on the sandwich adapter and the pressure sensor. The connection at the pressure sensor appears to be the culprit. I can't help but wonder if the shop used teflon tape or not on the fittings. It says to in the install directions but I can't imagine it would leak with the tape used.

Where is the ignition system in the WRX?

taking the probe out of the sandwich thing isn't too bad, but you'll have to drain your oil to do a good job.

Well I went through everything tonight. I fixed my uppipe leak and routed the Oil Pressure line a different route. It didn't work. There is a pattern to the problem with the gauge. And it happens in the same order every time I start the car up.

When the car is cold and I start it the gauge works great. Read the correct oil pressure with no errors. As I drive along I notice the gauge starts to slowly creep down to 0. And when I say slowly I mean over a couple minutes. It reaches zero and the warning light comes on. I set it to zero because it keeps going to that anyways. The light stays solid almost as if I truly have lost all oil pressure which is not the case. After about 10-15 minutes it starts to blink slowly. This would indicate a short circuit in the harness or sensor according to the manual. It then goes back and forth from a slow blink to solid light.

:confused::(:mad:

Should I just call the vendor who I got it from and ask them to send me a new unit, harness, or what? I'm at a loss on it.

yeah i would try to get an exchange. your oil temp gauge is working fine, that's proof enough i think to the vendor that you bought it from that you know what you're doing and it's not working right.
