How much difference do you think I would feel if I went with the Kartboy short shifter when I already have the short shift factory option? Maybe I just need bushings?

I am not even sure if the Kartboy shifter and bushings are compatible with the factory short shifter. I have never had the chance to get a close look at a factory short throw shifter assembly outside of a car.

Regardless of the shifter, there shouldn't be any problem with the bushings - those are in the linkage under the car.
Unless, for some reason, Subaru changes with those as well with the short shifter option... (I think that's what Dave was saying). You could look up the instructions on installation of the bushings from Kartboy's website, and pull your bushing(s) out per the instructions. The stock one comes out pretty easy. There is a pic in the instructions of what the stock bushing (rubber) looks like compared with the aftermarket (urethane) bushings.
Basically, if you have one solid rubber bushing in there you would benefit from the aftermarket two piece urethane bushings. They improve shifting a lot - in my case especially when used with the Kartboy shifter. My car shifts a lot more like a sports car now.:disco:

I have the same question as migs76; what version of Kartboy endlinks are these? I understand there's a version with 2 spherical bearings, and a newer version with one spherical bearing and one "regular" bearing?

These are the original end links. To my understanding the only changes to the newer version is an anodized finish as opposed to the orginal plain silver finish. I haven't heard anything about changes to the bushings. I will see if I can get some more information.

It appears there are several versions, but I don't know if they were all pre-production testers & only one is actually being sold or what the story is.

Okay, here is what I gather. The original version had two spherical bearings which caused sway bar "walk". Version two had one spherical bearing and one bushing, the spherical bearings began making noise and were too expensive so they switched the design to bushings on the top and bottom. And the latest revision is only to the finish, going from plain aluminum to an anodized finish.

The links that I have here have bushings on the top and bottom and are plain aluminum not the newer anodized versions.

moving is a PIA, i havent been in the shop for a few days and havent had email at the new house till today.

there are a few different versions of the droplinks.
V1 and 1.5 had the spherical bearings. they turned into a nightmare so we changed it to the new V2 "C" Shaped.
we've had those out for about two years.
there have been a few different colors. Silver and the Hard Anodized. we recently went back to the Silver Anodized the last run. i personally didnt like the way they looked. but the there is no difference in the performance.

The short throw shifter will reduce the shift throw by 40% and the shifter bushings will help to eliminate the slop in the shifting linkage. The threads on the shift levers is the same as that on the stock shift lever so if the Greddy knob screws onto the stock lever it should screw onto the Kartboy shifter just fine. I installed the kartboy shifter and bushings last night. It took less than an hour, and considering it was my first time working on a car, thats not bad at all. I did have to grind down the metal plate around the shifter, but it wasn't a big deal since I've got a grinding wheel.

i have the factory short shifter on my wrx and would like to know the difference with the kartboy bushings... i have heard alot and would like to know through a actual vendor. thanks

The bushings are a great way to remove some of the slop from the shifter linkage. They don't shorten the shift throw or change the shift geometry in any way, but they do work wonders to increase shift feel.

I don't think there would be any benefit to replacing the factory short shifter with the KB short shifter. I'd stick with the factory short throw shifter and add the bushings if you are looking for an improved feel.

Kartboy is working on new, longer exhaust hangers. I already told Tom at Kartboy to ship me a bunch of them as soon as they are ready. I will post here as soon as they are available. :)

I read through some of the posts but I wanted to make sure before I order. The Kartboy Exhaust Hangers are for Legacy also right?! As far as I know Kartboy makes them standart replacement for all Subaru models.

My GT Legacy is '97 and I'm not liking my stock hangers with the exhaust I have. Please, confirm the compatibility. Looks like Oakos is a great vendor and parts are worth the money. Thanks :D

Yes, the Kartboy hangers will work on your Legacy. We currently only have the black hangers in stock, but I am expecting more red ones very soon, possibly even today. :)

The '02+ shifters are running low. I am expecting more, but I'm not sure that they will be here before they go out of stock.

How tall is the Kartboy shift knob compared to the prodrive? I have a pd and its as tall as my stock lever. When used with the kartboy short shift, would the kb knob make the whole assy shorter?

I'm not very familiar with the Prodrive shift knob, but I can tell you that the Kartboy knob has an overall height of about 62mm. I hope this helps! :)

What do end links do? :huh:

The end links connect the ends of the sway bar to the suspension linkage. Look below for a picture of where they go. The stock links are made from plastic with soft rubber bushings in them. The Kartboy end links are solid aluminum and use less compliant bushings. This provides for a more solid connection between the sway bar and the suspension. The result is a rear sway bar that is effectively slightly stiffer and also responds quicker. I have a set on my car and, frankly, I was surprised by how noticeable the difference is.
