View Full Version : 2004 Impreza WRX- $100 (Yes, the whole car)
subaruwrxparts.com 03-02-2003, 12:45 AM We're gearing up for our now annual meet at Subaruwrxparts.com/Exeter Subaru (this year it will be held at New England Dragway, Epping NH- we own the place for the day :D), and we want it to be even bigger than last year. We're still going to have the same great food, fun, good times, and giveaways as last year, with one small twist... We're raffling off a brand-new 2004 Impreza WRX!. We don't have all the details ironed out for the meet yet, but we're ready to give away this WRX! You can buy tickets and read all the updates about the meet by clicking the link on the main page of our website or by visiting http://www.wrxstiparts.com. In addition to this being a wonderful way to get a brand-new WRX (your choice of body and color BTW :D) you are also benefitting charity, as all proceeds will be donated to the Exeter Rotary Club. Anyone/everyone is invited to attend (we had people from Iowa there last year!) and anyone over 18 can win the car... you just have to come pick it up ;). I can't promise anything, but I'm doing what I can to get something that hasn't seen the light of day since 1998 there, if it can be brought out of hiding ;).

Kwyjibo 03-02-2003, 03:13 PM How many raffle tickets will you be selling?? I'm trying to figure out my odds if they all sell.
thanks.
jblaine 03-02-2003, 03:48 PM Same here. Would like to know the limit on the number of tickets being sold.
xstar 03-02-2003, 04:27 PM cool deal Brian. So no STi for raffle? :( I'd be so on that...
but I may be able to send some other ppl your way to get a few tickets.
North Ursalia 03-02-2003, 04:39 PM We'd LOVE to do an STi Raffle, but there was no way we could 100% guarantee having a car to give someone, so we took the next best option :D. As for the number of tickets question, we need to sell 250 to cover the cost of the car, bare minimum. I think this is doable- we've sold a few tickets thus far today. It would be nice to sell 300 or a bit more, so we can have a healthy donation, as this is a charity raffle after all :). The meet will still have giveaways like last year, and I've already set aside a few choice BPM exhaust components for such purposes. You'll also probably see items like a carbon fiber hood and hoodscoop- I'll announce the giveaway items as I get 100% definite commitments on them, and those will aslo get posted to the http://www.wrxstiparts.com website as well. Alex, thank you very much :D. Anyone/everyone is invited to the meet BTW... you can feel free to spread the word to any car boards/coworkers/friends/acquaintances that you wish :).

I know, I know; the point is moot. ;)

I'd be willing to bet that the IRS has a thing or two to say about it should you win...probably some sort of rediculous gift tax...
North Ursalia 03-03-2003, 12:22 PM You would have to pay registration in your state, as well as any taxes or licensing fees your state charges. How much and what fees you would pay will vary greatly from state to state.

LimeyWRX 03-03-2003, 12:56 PM Can I buy tickets and not be present to win. If I win then I'll obviously turn up to collect when ready but can I enter the draw being from another state and having no intention of the meet due to distance. I live in Texas
LordBass 03-03-2003, 01:05 PM Hot stuff, Brian. More proof that Exeter Subaru '0wn3z'. :) .. I'll take my '04 in wagon, WRB, manual form, please. :D
Don't know what manufacturers will make available for giveaways, but if possible get some stuff that us N/A guys can use too. STi motor & trans mounts are a popular item.
Can't wait for the meet!

North Ursalia 03-03-2003, 02:13 PM All the rules/info are posted on the website http://www.wrxstiparts.com Yes, you can be from out of state and enter... you just have to come get the car if you win :). LordBass- I don't forget the N/A guys... I'm still one of them ;).

:disco:  :D
North Ursalia 03-06-2003, 11:43 AM We're not too familiar with Canadian raffle laws, so in order to make sure we don't break any, we're leaving it open only to US residents. That isn't to say a friend from the US couldn't buy you a ticket as a 'gift' though :D

I wouldn't know that you were Canadian if I sent the ticket to a US address ;).
Is this a tax deductible charity?
We put in the rules that it is not (CYB maneuver :D) but it's going to vary by state as best I know. It may or may not be where you live.

BADWRX 03-09-2003, 03:15 PM I can't come to the party though. :(
Adick2 03-09-2003, 07:04 PM Sent my money over thursday nite thru the website. are you going to mail me the tickets or are you going to wait to see if it is a go?
Thanks
Tom
North Ursalia 03-10-2003, 11:03 AM We will mail you out confirmation that your ticket payment went through (by US Mail) in addition to your credit card statement as proof. We won't have 'tickets' sent out per se- we will maintain some form of 'ticket' with your name, address, and order number on them to be put into a box/hat/foo that we'll pull the winner out of at the meet. Results will be posted semi-immediately to the website (as soon as we clean up and I get back home) as to whom the winner as, as well as us contacting the winner ASAP. BADWRX... don't wait- put your order in now. If everyone waits to 'see if it will happen' it probably won't ;).

WindyWRX 03-10-2003, 02:25 PM If I have read the rules of these types of drawing correctly before, and I believe I have, keep in mind that if you do win the car, the government would consider it that someone gave you
@ $25,000 of money (approx. list of car). This means that you should have paid taxes on this amount because it is considered income. The taxes are probably about $ 6 or $7000. Now by all means this is still a good deal, but when tax time came around, you would probably be owing a good hunk of change to the fine folks at the IRS.
Nonetheless, I think I am going to be sending the cash over soon.
North Ursalia 03-11-2003, 05:21 PM Sold a few more today :). No firm guarantees on this yet but... we're working on getting Ramana Lageman (driver #2 for Subaru Rally Team USA) here at the meet as well as the two Rally Team USA replicars that SOA has. You don't want to miss this meet if you can make it ;)!

Thanks
Dennis
North Ursalia 03-12-2003, 01:38 PM We have to sell 250 for the raffle to go off, so it's a 1 in 250 chance bare minimum. I will post the day we hit 250 to let everyone know that it's a go... if we don't make 250 by the meet (or at the meet) everyone will be getting $100 back, nobody will get the car, and there won't be any charity donation :(. So tell all your friends, tell other car boards/forums, tell your Aunt Bess- buy a ticket :)!

doppelganger 06-11-2003, 06:02 PM I'll be buying a ticket at the meet Sunday morning... can we do this?
What time of the day do you plan on having the raffle?
Any other raffles/gifts at the meet you can give us a hint on?
I will be in a convoy of at least 20 Imprezas showing up Sunday morning!! See you then!:)
North Ursalia 06-11-2003, 06:37 PM The raffle drawing is scheduled for "whenever" and tickets will be sold all day until we have enough, but no more than 300 in total (keeps your odds of winning pretty damn high eh :D?). There will be other 'door prizes' too, like pulley kits, an axleback, CF hood and hoodscoop, perhaps a set of springs... lots of goodies :). There will be a series of prizes for things like highest MPH and quickest 0 to 60 foot times, plus a few curve balls we threw in- we're definitely going to make this worth the trip up- bring your dad's, it's Father's Day after all :D!

Kwyjibo 06-11-2003, 06:45 PM Are the door prizes part of the raffle, or for winners of contests?
Like if i'm not there, and if I don't win the car, i can still win another prize??
thanks.
Boozted 06-11-2003, 08:30 PM So how many tickets are confirmed sold yet?
Just wondering how much we need to sell with 2 whole days left.
wrx what 06-11-2003, 10:15 PM So I do not have to attend to win the car or other prizes? If so, I will buy one.
North Ursalia 06-11-2003, 11:15 PM The door prizes are just that... those you have to be there to win- they will be given away to someone that day. The WRX is what's up for raffle (it's a charity raffle, with all proceeds going to charity) and can be won by anyone, anywhere :). I don't have a firm count on the # of tickets sold in total thus far, mostly because I'm home now :).

Scoobie Newbie 07-05-2003, 10:49 PM Sorry to hijack this thread but do you think you could give me a quote for the 04 STi Winglets (left and right) and hardware delivered to Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, R3R 1J5. Also on your website does quantity 1 mean both left and right?
Adick2 08-01-2003, 02:45 PM What is the status of this??? Has anyone won yet???
North Ursalia 08-01-2003, 03:02 PM Nobody has won, nor will anyone I'm afraid. After this AM's refunds and today's sales, we're at 143 tickets. It looks like Monday AM I will be refunding $100 many times. For those folks who ordered after say June 16th (give or take a few days) you will find that your cards were never charged for the raffle. It's too bad this didn't go off... we really wanted to give away a car :(.
I, finally, have given up and declared defeat... shoulda listened to the boss when he declared defeat several weeks ago :(. I'll be updating the website(s) shortly.
