View Full Version : Side visors - no more drip!
Updated 05/21: A new thread will be started once the next shipment comes in, somewhere around next week tuesday or wednesday.
I finally got around to installing a set of these genuine Subaru side visors:
http://www.cc-b.com/uploads/rain-gutter-1.jpg
Installing them is a snap (took me about 35 minutes, only requires a philips screw driver), they look great and do the job.
We have them, and they can be yours for $119.00 + shipping.
E-mail us at info@cc-b.com or call 708.369.8707 for information or to order.
Thanks
Eddy

dj_noose 03-16-2003, 08:17 PM I want some of these;) Should I give you a call tomorrow to order them?
dorifto88 03-16-2003, 08:25 PM me too me too!
but there is no room in my budget
:(
cooter 03-16-2003, 09:26 PM Kinda hard to tell from the pics, but I'm curious. Does this hinder opening the doors at all? Looks like one big piece across both the front and rear doors.
Would it be possible to see it on there with the door(s) open?

Version 6 GC8 03-16-2003, 09:32 PM Do you have them for GC8 Coupe? If you do, how much will it going to be?
Siu
dj_noose 03-16-2003, 11:12 PM I've actually seen a car that has these up close. I don't remember him saying anything about the windows touching. I'll PM him and see.

Coot,
This is not exactly what you asked for, but the only thing I had handy. I'll get some better pics tomorrow. This picture is actually looking up through the visor. It is attached with clips to the edge of the door sill. Windows and doors open as usual, nothing changes.

wReXeRw 03-17-2003, 01:49 AM extremely JDM! A lot of cars in Japan have these installed... bump for a good product:)
Any affect on wind noise at highway speeds. None? Louder? quieter?
Thanks.
purplegrape 03-17-2003, 03:06 AM Given that you car is a sedan, do you have anything for wagon?

mykrrrr 03-17-2003, 06:50 AM Eddy - Can you get them for my GC6 at this $$$??? If so, I might make it up to another meet. :D
Let me know via PM or on here. :)

dj_noose 03-17-2003, 08:26 AM Confirmed:
Re: visors
Nope. When you look at them it looks like they might hit but they don't. There is about 1/2 cm or more clearance. Surprisingly they are actually functional too. You can crack your window almost an inch in the rain and not have any come in. If you found new ones for less than $100 I would buy them. They are long skinny and fragile so be careful of how they are shipped. Some of the group buys have had a high shipping damage rate.
Dale
CTKAG 03-17-2003, 08:29 AM I have them - they clear the windows just fine. I've never noticed any wind noise from them, but that's only at 75 - 80 or so, not sure about high speed (like a track day). They're really designed for you to have the window just cracked - maybe an inch at most.
Very subtle - most people would never notice that you have them on.
dj_noose 03-17-2003, 08:33 AM I'll call today to place my order...;)

rmhignite 03-19-2003, 12:27 AM I also would love aset for the sedan, let us know when you have them.
vsigma 03-20-2003, 07:07 PM Dear CC-B--
If you're getting them from where I was getting them from - no LHD sets exist for the GC8/6... I'm still sitting on 2 sets of the RHD sets here ;) :(
The problem? The antenna mount is on the wrong side.
The new age impreza wagon and sedan ones are slightly different in length and attachment points. They add just a touch of windnoise (very little, but it's definitely there) from stock at higher speeds.
-victor
(the guy who did a GB on these like a year and change ago..)
The_Triton 05-01-2003, 01:39 AM Could you post a pic of these installed on a sedan. I am very interested.
thnx
jukes 05-01-2003, 10:07 AM Any news on wagon sets for an 03.
These look good.
thanks
A few things:
1. We had to raise the price. These things are sinfully expensive to ship due to the size and the Euro it giving the $ a run for it's money. The new price is $119.00
2. We ordered 15 wagon sets and 20 sedan sets but only received 4 wagon sets and 15 sedan sets. The only thing left right now is about 8 sedan sets, the wagon sets are already gone. We should get more in the next orders of May 7th and May 21st.
To order one of the remaining sets,
click here (http://cc-b.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=E3610FE000&Category_Code=SI02) . First come first serve.
Eddy
XMEDIC 05-01-2003, 11:16 AM I'm down for one of the wagon sets when they arrive, can I reserve a set?
Thanks, Jefe'
jagcars26 05-01-2003, 11:18 AM Eddie,,just ordered a sedan set from your site.Damn shipping is exspensive,,i hope UPS doesnt destroy these on route..
Thanks
Rudy
shoot me a tracking # when they ship please.
Rudy,
Yes, shipping on these is a lot (especially for what it is). Funny part is that USPS is even more expensive. I don't thing there is a cheap way to send these.
Tracking number will be sent to you overnight from UPS. Thanks for the order.
Eddy
dj_noose 05-01-2003, 09:15 PM According to the site it says you're sold out. Is this true??? I really want to get a set.
twitch 05-01-2003, 10:04 PM I got a set from Eddy. They are enroute. Should be here tomorrow. I'll install this weekend & post the results.
dj_noose 05-02-2003, 04:19 PM Ok, I finally got mine on order. There's one more available right now.
SubyDoobyDoo 05-02-2003, 04:54 PM woohoo, i think i got the last one!
twitch 05-02-2003, 07:13 PM Got 'em today. The box was mangled all to heck but the visors were intact & all the part still inside.
Twitch,
Do you have a digicam? If yes, please take some pictures of the box and e-mail them to me. I'm meeting with a UPS rep next week because they can't figure out why I'm always biatching at them for breaking stuff.
Thanks
Eddy
twitch 05-02-2003, 07:21 PM Eddy,
Roger. Wilco. There was some white crud all over the box & it was taped back together said "repack"on the side.
I'll email them as soon as I recharge my camera.

jsmonet 05-03-2003, 05:28 AM please do post up when you have wagon sets. funny enough it is raining ONCE AGAIN in so cali :)
if you can keep doing these at that original price that would be awesome.
edit: i see why you raised the prices... well poop.
twitch 05-03-2003, 10:24 AM I took pics of the box the rain visors came in & emailed them back to Eddy as evidence that UPS is dropping the ball (& probably packages). As I was prepping to install these this morning I noticed there were long cracks in both visors. I took more pics of the cracks in the visors & also emailed them back to Eddy. It will probably be forever before I get these replaced due to the difficulty in getting these.
 UPS...
jagcars26 05-03-2003, 11:09 AM Damn! that sucks! Mine are on there way to me.I will make it a point to be here when they arrive:rolleyes:
Got a question though,,if they are screwed up,,,can i just refuse them and telll the UPS guy to take them back??Ive recieved alot of stuff from UPS and so far everything(although they tried damn hard to srew stuff up) has been ok.
Rudy,,,
[freeman] 05-03-2003, 11:28 PM its not just ups....usps broke mine too...so im just waiting for the insurance claim...this sucks!
but im confident that cc-b will come through... :)
twitch 05-06-2003, 06:16 PM Based on the pics I took for Eddy (& then sent to UPS), they settled & are sending Eddy all the required paperwork to close this out. UPS didn't even need to come out & see them. Can't wait to get the replacement set.

We're working on it, but USPS bureaucracy seems to be somewhat more complex than UPS's. Sorry it takes so long.

Got your mail. Call UPS tomorrow and let them know you refused shipment because of obvious damage. We have to do the same on our end once we get them back here.
I had a meeting today with a UPS rep regarding damages, both to these items and to the STi headlights.
It was obvious that UPS chooses the ability to move quantity over preventing damages. Here's one example: the rain visors cost an extra $5.00 to ship. It's called a handling fee, and is charged because of the large, akward size. However, the rep told me that their is no distiction being made between regular packages, packages that have a fragile label on them or packages that are paying the handling fee. Everything is handled the same way. If they are loading the truck and our fragile package is the first one to go on the truck, all the other crap gets piled on top of it. Mr. Brown at work
I apologize for the damages and will work on a way that we can minimize the risk.

gqzboy 05-08-2003, 12:21 PM did i get the last wagon visor? please let me know when u ship it.. thanks
Danny,
Yes, you had the last one. Going out today if I can figure out how to reinforce the box, otherwise tomorrow.
Eddy
Just a suggestion as I don't know how the boxes come yet, but you could try to double box it. I've ordered R/C helicopters and parts from CA and Hong Kong that were double boxed and they arrived without damage.
Calvin
Calvin,
Double boxing would probably solve a lot, especially if we could also add some cushioning in the box.
The only problem is finding a box in that akward size. The box these visors come in measures roughly 62x12x3. That's not an off-the-shelve measurment, and to have a box custom made is expensive. It's already $21.00 or so to ship these things, so I don't have a lot of room to work with
eddy
mesaro 05-08-2003, 02:22 PM I saw these on another NASIOC members car last weekend (chewychew). At first I was unsure about them because I don't like the way they stick out on other cars, but after seeing these in person you could almost barely tell they're there. Let us know when u get more in stock! You have atleast one buyer waiting.:D ;)
in two to three weeks from now we should have another 40 pieces or so in stock.
Eddy
Eddy,
Just wondered if my order shipped last night or today and if it would be possible to have a tracking number e-mailed or pm'd to me. It's the order going to 43082.
Thank you very much,
Jordan
twitch 05-08-2003, 09:50 PM Here is a thought...repackaging them inside the cardboard tube centers that carpet comes in. Carpet stores probably throw them away. Cut them to length & tape off the ends. Some are wide enough to accomodate the slight curve in the visors. Plus those things are so freakin' rigid there is no way that UPS could break it.

Eddy,
Got the side visors today. No damage whatsoever. They even left it at my door with the right side up. :) The box was not damaged although I would maybe use some tape to seal up the long edge of the box as it looked like the bag of brackets could have fallen out through a gap. . .luckily it didn't. I'm going to go put these on now.
Calvin
Placed the order on Wednesday. Still haven't heard anything. Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Damn Rudy, send some positive vibes, will ya! :D
And yes, we are refiguring the packaging. I'm picking up the cardboard equivalents of a 2x4 stud later that we are going to try and frame the boxes with. Sorry about the small delay, but look at it this way: if it arrives broken, you're in for a longer wait.

Well, this turned out to a big disaster. I got so fed up I took one of the packages over to FedEx. Quite a few red faces and "innappropriate" language :D Didn't help anything, but at least I feel better. :p
SubyDoobyDoo: call UPS and tell them your merchandise arrived damaged. They will take it from there.
urabusWRX : I got yours back yesterday (that's the one I took over to UPS). Holy Crap, they did a real number on it. It was folded in half and taped up like that when they delivered it back.
Again, my apologies to everyone that received theirs damaged. We're trying a few things to ship them better and we will get you replacements as soon as possible.

thats great eddy...good to know youre on the ball! :) But I'm still wondering when will the issue with mine be resolved? since...USPS has yet to really tell us anything...I'm starting to have little faith in USPS and UPS now....

I placed my order five days ago and haven't heard anything from you since. I was just wondering what the status of my order is and whether or not it has shipped. Also, if the order has shipped, would it be possible to have the tracking number e-mailed or pm'd to me?
Thanks a lot,

I get the impression I'm not one of the remaining orders?

Oops! I meant to post this last night, but I forgot:
For those that have placed an order but have not yet received a tracking number, please be patient. We are still looking at a few alternatives to ship and should have this resolved in the next few days. Please understand that we have to find a balance between the effectiveness of the packaging and the cost of the packaging, and that is turning out to be a tad harder than I thought. Once we start shipping them, I will send an e-mail to everybody individually.

All the paperwork has finally been accepted by USPS last week. they have a copy of the invoice, the pictures and the claim form. They said it could take about 2 weeks for them to get back to me, so give them another week or so before we start bugging them again.
Sorry this is taking so long but USPS is something else. Just to get a stamp on a document requires the patience of a saint.
Eddy

I was wondering if could get a tracking number for my order pm'd or e-mailed to me.
Edit: Just got it, it's already in OH, thank you very much.

xlrater 05-23-2003, 02:04 AM Hey CC-B
Any ideas on when the next shipment comes in? Living in the great Northwest something like this is perfect!
I already went to your website and clicked on "Notify Me" but that was like 2 weeks ago and of course (like a kid at the candy store) I'm getting impatient.
Patiently waiting ;)
xlrater
They should be here next week sometime. You'll receive an e-mail soon.
Eddy
Eddy,
Got mine all in one piece, excellent job on the packaging.

Install was a snap (literally) once I figured out the instruction booklet was in paged together in the wrong order.
Did you guy's actually primer the edge, or did you just clean it real well with acetone or whatever?
Thanks a lot,
Jordan
urabusWRX 05-24-2003, 09:48 PM Looks good. Cant wait to get mine hopefully in another week or two. What are you talking about primering the edge or using acetone?
In the directions it talks about using "K500" primer (I'm assuming to get the edges ready to accept the double sided tape). I didn't have any K500 primer on hand, so I used an acetone-like liquid to clean any wax or dirt off of the edge and just affixed it that way. The double sided tape along with the clips ensures a good fit, I don't think these things are going anywhere, primered or not.
jagcars26 05-25-2003, 01:50 PM Nice ,,and on a silver car too! That primer is just to clean up where the tape goes,,any good degreaser, mineral spirits, goof off etc will takeof wax and stuff so the tape will stick well.
Hope fully my replacements will be here in a week or two also:D

turboICE 06-01-2003, 02:16 AM Ditto on wagon replacements - he even tried to give FedEx a chance. I think they have contests with UPS before they deliver to see who can damage boxes marked fragile the most.

any word from usps?
xlrater 06-01-2003, 12:42 PM So for all of you that are waiting for replacements. Did you originally receive the reinforced packaging or the 1st shipment of non-reinforced packaging?
I was just wondering if there were still issues with damaged products and the new reinforced packaging. I would like to order one but I don't really want to go thru the "hassle" if there are still issues.
Thanks guys :disco:
The reinforced packaging is holding up fine so far. It's quite a bit more work, but it doesn't compare to going through the hassle of dealing with the insurance.
Just the first batch that went out was a big cluster f*. So far UPS/FedEx has paid out one claim, all the others are denied (which we're appealing).
Eddy
Freeman: all your paperwork was submitted a couple of weeks ago, I'll try and check tomorrow to see what's up with that.
Eddy
urabusWRX 06-01-2003, 02:02 PM I am pretty sure that everyone who is waiting for replacements was part of the non-reinforced group. I know I was.

I hope they didn't deny mine, I documented very well the abuse they subjected the package to - for goodness sakes there was a hole poked clear through the box one part. There is no way the condition it arrived in was not either intentional or extreme gross negligence.
Thanks for addressing an issue they are not willing to Eddy.
Looking forward to drip free days - plenty of rain in the NE lately.

Rudy,
No, the UPS claim is unrelated for these shipments. We'll take care of it, otherwise you'll be waiting till hell freezes over....
Under normal circumstances (occasional damage) we wait for UPS to clear stuff up, but this case is somewhat different

remember the time u tried to get me the tracking number and i never got it ? well .. anyways .. one of our emails must be messed ...
er .. the emails i've been sending u were regarding stuff i wanted to have sent to me when i get the wagons visors from ya ..
and u said u could sell me ur unpainted skirts too and have them ship all together .. i also asked about roof rails and the stock sedan rear sway bar (if you had them, i'd take them too) but ... umm .... yeah, this is getting to become a huge list of stuff and off topic too, but might as well do it all at once and save on shipping right?
i can paypal ya anytime u're ready to ship them
i actually tried to call u yesterday and today too, but no one answered ...

By upcoming monday everything should be on the way, and you should have received a tracking number from FedEx. If you don't have a tracking number on monday, e-mail me and I'll send it again. This is both for new orders and for the replacement ones.
As for the GC8: Follow this link. (http://cc-b.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=F0010FA000&Category_Code=SBU) . I have 4 in stock right now, and I can get more if the demand is there.

Eddy - any word on being able to get the 6-pin leveling switches instead of the 4-pin?
urabusWRX 06-11-2003, 09:41 PM ^^me also. Thanks eddy for everything.
1. The 6-pin switches should be here any day with the rest of my back order stuff from Subaru. I'll post and e-mail once I have them here.
2. Canada: yet another hurdle.... our "new and improved" packaging uses wood, which now seems to be an issue with UPS and FedEx. They need a "fumigation certificate" in order to be able to ship this. This means we would have to spend another $30.00 to have the wood treated. I'm just about ready to say that we cannot ship these things to canada. There is only so much I can do to ship these things..... I'll check a few more options and I'll let you know.
Eddy

jedimaster71472 06-12-2003, 09:15 AM Wow! I'm seeing a lot of horror stories here about broken merchandise-I want these, but I don't want to deal with broken ones and sending them back, etc. Is it safe to assume that the shipping issues are solved?

Absolutely - if the shipper damages them now - it could only have been malicious and intentional.
I admit my own frustration (which Eddy can confirm) over the shipping damage and the time it took. But in retrospect, given the unavailability from a US supplier and the Subaru packaging that isn't meant for individual delivery - Eddy did handle this all very well and has fully addressed the issues. And he never even told me to go fly a kite when I would drop him a line every three or four days.
jedimaster71472 06-12-2003, 09:39 AM Good- I'm on the list for the next batch of wagon visors!:)

Thanks again, can't wait to put them on.

O.k., sometimes you got to do things that are not really going to go over well:
We've decided that shipping these visors to Canada is really not in anyones best interest. It is expensive, impractical and creates too much frustration for everyone involved. Sorry guys.
[Freeman]: We will work things out with USPS and refund your money.
Jack: I'm sorry we can't ship your order, but I hope you can understand...
If there would be a canadian shop that is willing to take some of these off our hands in a larger qty. (10 or 15 sets) than maybe we can works something out with them.
Eddy
JTang 06-12-2003, 08:00 PM well how about just the other stuff without the visors?
those other things aren't as fragile as the visors.
Jack,
The sideskirts are plastic, so they would be fine, but are you really willing to pay $20, $25.00 in shipping + duties for a set of used sideskirts? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why don't you try and get them locally? Somebody must have them!

Freeman,
There is 1 (one) person in the post office that is dealing with this, and she is very hard to get a hold off. Everybody else just plays stupid.
I need to know how they are going to resolve this before I can do anything else: will they have you submit for reimbursement or us, are they going to deny the claim.....
Once I have that information I can proceed with whatever it is that needs to be done to get you your money back.
Eddy
SubyDoobyDoo 06-22-2003, 12:21 PM Eddy, i was wondering if you got my damaged visors back yet? They were shipped back mon. 6/9/03. I have the tracking number and i'll pm you with it.
turboICE 06-22-2003, 02:17 PM Eddy,
These side visors look great! As easy as they are to install and as good as they look and work I can not imagine for the life of me why these are not port installed options. SOA really missed the boat on this one.
It was a very long time coming - thanks for fixing the shipper incompetence problem and getting the replacements. Also thanks for dealing with my recurring follow ups.
You are the EDM man. So are you ever going to carry wagon waist spoilers in WRB? (another sign of SOA cluelessness)

ok thats a start... Can you please get a time frame from them indicating how long it'll take the claim? 1. Yelling is not going to get this resolved any sooner. To the contrary.
2. Yes, you need to contact them and inform them that you received a damaged package. That will set the wheels in motion.
3. I apologize that I wasn't available for you over the 4th of July weekend. I was under the impression that it was a holdiday weekend.
The sooner you contact the carrier, the sooner this will be resolved. They will pick up the package from you for inspection and then return it to us. We ship all our goods insured so that situations like this can be resolved quickly.

How about a non-shipping related question? I ordered some of these from you and installed them a couple weeks ago. They work great :) save for one thing ... the driver side one is making noise while driving. I figure that's expected, but my passenger side hardly makes a peep. Any clues/hints/tips as to how to fix it? I realize this is a case by case basis that these things make noise, but thought I'd ask ... Again, I'm very pleased with them, just hope I can get this little issue resolved.
Thanks!

These don't fit, but we have the ones for the "old skool" in stock too:
click here (http://cc-b.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=F0010FA000&Category_Code=SI98)
The pic kinda sucks, but it does show that these are the ones for LHD cars, with the antenna cutout on the correct side.

minix42@ 07-14-2003, 02:56 AM edit: just a rant about lack of communication. Got an e-mail this morning and hopefully everything's worked out.
Eddy,
Thanks for your quick response this time. Sorry if I got all worked up over nothing, I just needed to know what's going on.
Thanks again,
Mike

Glad you got yours resolved, I stll have yet to hear from eddy and honestly its getting kind of ridiculous...
Freeman:
My hand are kind of tied in your case.
This is not Fedex or UPS, this is the USPS and it is honestly not the fastest organization on earth. There is one person that we can contact at the post office for your damages, and it is extremely hard to get a hold of this person.
We have not forgotten about your shipment, nore are we trying to avoid dealing with it. You will receive more news as soon as we have something tangiable to tell you. All I can tell you right now is that I have nothing new that I can tell you.

Fair enough, but the thing is I've looked into the when I first reported the damages to you that was at the april 19, 2003. Near the end of april 2003 was when we got the ball rolling for the insurance claim. Are you telling me that you've had more than 2 months and you still can't reach this person?
I'm trying to be patient and understanding but I've actually realized its been almost been 3 months....and it's like we've gotten no where... :furious:
What will it take?? I know there's no replacement coming from me...there's no way to make these things work even if i try to fix them ( parts were missing too)... All I want is my refund...Which I am entitled to...:(
I'm sorry to do this out in the open but my emails never get heard...
jedimaster71472 07-15-2003, 12:21 AM I was originally going to get a set of these visors from CC-B, but after seeing all the problems with shipping, etc. decided tog et them from a NASIOC member. I would, quite frankly, be pissed if you guys had my money for 2 months. That's excessive- the post office is a federal agency- if only one person can help locally, you need to contact USPS and get results- this thread is only hurting your business. I'm not trying to flame or be a dick here, just trying to offer advice- in the world of business, customer service is what will make or break you.
pitbul09 07-15-2003, 12:52 AM checking on the status are u going to send a new set? If so when could u send me a tracking number.

We went from 90% damages to 2% damages by redesigning the packaging at our expense. From all the damaged shipments, 2 or 3 cases are lingering for one reason or another outside of our control. All in all, I feel we did pretty well in keeping the sale of this item from turning into a total disaster.
As far as USPS is concerned: with all due respect, but you obviously have not dealt with them on a similar matter, nor do you have all the details. There is only so much we can do before we have to accept the fact that this will have to run its course.
