View Full Version : New Vendor: Carbon Fiber Parts

Qvelocity
03-16-2003, 09:50 PM
Hey guys! I would like to introduce my company, Qvelocity. We are custom composites fabricators, and we have developed a few parts for the WRX (gc8 guys, you're next :D ). These are pictures of prototype parts, some are not shown as finished(mounting tabs/holes drilled/5 stage clearcoat). Quality is top notch all carbon fiber. We have a bunch more parts under development and a few we are finishing up...so check back for updates.

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00441.jpg

This is a radiator shroud/cover. $125

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00416.jpg

The battery cover attaches with included brackets. $125

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00413.jpg

The grab handles attach with factory bolts. $75 each

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00404.jpg

This replaces the factory shifter panel, and deletes the cointray/ashtray/lighter, the lighter can be relocated easily. The front of this piece measures about 7x4, perfect for a custom install of a s-afc, auxilliary gauges etc. $200

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00420.jpg

This shifter trim fits perfectly on top of your stock piece. $150

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00444.jpg

This is a gauge pod, that fits in place of the clock panel. It is turned to face the driver. For those who like the factory style pod, we will have pics of our carbon version this week. This can fit 3 52mm or 60mm gauges. $225

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00437.jpg

Sill covers. $150 for fronts, $250 for set of four

http://www.qvelocity.com/Dsc00415.jpg

Fog covers. These are prototypes, we also are making a set with mesh, so you don't have to take them off with to use your fogs. $200

OK, I hope these pictures work ok. We have a bunch more super cool parts (front lip, various engine bay covers, airbox, intake pipe, door panel inserts, reverse hood scoop for fmic guys...etc.), and we will post these up early this week.

GROUP BUY DISCOUNTS...

5%vendor intro discount to nasioc members for duration of group buy.

+5% discount(and free shipping:disco:) for orders placed within the first five days of the group buy.
--additional 10% discount for 5+ buyers of any single part.
--additional 5% discount for 10+ buyers of any part.

This is a little different format from other group buys I have seem, but I think it may help to motivate people "off the fence" to get better prices for everyone.

Thanks for any comments or questions, you can post them here,pm, or email orders@qvelocity.com. We also take paypal to that address. We do accept phone calls at our shop in the mornings, (970) 586-4383, but we are quite busy with new parts, so leave your email. We currently aren't setup for credit cards (very soon though), so we are accepting paypal and money orders.

Thanks for looking,

John and Liz

Very nice products, I bet you could increase the hight of gauge pod slightly and still leave room for the stock clock underneath or on top of the center gauges.

Kind of like this but a little tighter. What do you think?

cmaj7-I have relocated my clock to work with this pod, I'll see what I can do about incorporating something into the mold.
HiFi-a v2 lip is on its way for the wagon, as are sills. We can do anything you want on a custom basis.
Rokket-Hopefully we will have some gc8 stuff by next month, and I am trying to confirm whether or not some of the negine bay stuff will fit a classic impreza.
Thanks guys, John

Thanks guys, John Ok well the V2 for a WAGON does me no good :(

Gve me a quote on a V2 lip and sideskirts with molded strakes for a SEDAN! Though I am relatively sure that for a custom order it will be out of my price range...

and also some in blue/black weave to match the stock interior

thanks

Forgot to mention on an earlier question that custom cutting/drilling is included with gauge pods.
lgkahn-we can do specialty hybrid kevlar weaves, but it does increase the price because kevlar is quite difficult to work with.

thanks That would be cool!

I want someone to make the following in a Blue Kevlar/Carbon fiber weave:

STi V2 lip
Stock Side skirts with Strakes
Hood
Trunk lid
S-202 Replica Spoiler
OEM rear underspoiler

If that is all possible I would be in Heaven!! Or maybe Hell (for selling my soul to afford all of that.... )

It seems that everyone is quite imaginative, I am the same. All of these parts could be made relatively easily, but a commited buyer would be needed. All that stuff would be pricey, but possible. Thanks, John

Will this fit on an 02rs automatic? I am intrested in buying one if it does. Or if you would like me to try it out and if it doesn't fit return me the money I would gladly try it out for you.

Looks like you guys are working hard to make stuff for us http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif A CF trunk would be nice too, id be intrested in hearing an est on price though...

HEY!

How about some carbon fiber dash peices - just to replace the parts that are normally silver on the dash. Yes, I know there is a factory CF kit, but is is fake, tacky stuff. I think there would be a market. I would buy it.

Tikler one: Thanks for the compliment, there is no minimum for the group buy, you can order at will!
Red rocket: We might consider the dash trim, but I am not sure if there is one on the market already.

Great, we have been waiting for a vendor like you for some time now man. Either the vendor suddenly disappears, stop production or something like that. The carbon fiber parts never never materialise man. Please make this happen.

I would like to see the carbon fiber trim too man! At the moment, I know of no company that makes Real Carbon Fiber Replacement Trims for the car. The closest we get are the carbon fiber overlays, and those do not cover the whole car too man. How about making all the silver portions in Real Carbon Replacement Piece, not overlays.

Also hope to see carbon fiber trims around the speedometer, carbon fiber Defi 60 mm pods ( the current Carbon Fiber one doesn't even fit well ) and carbon fiber I emblems man.

I agree with the previous post man, I like the whole shifter piece, but I do not want to lose the coin tray either man. Can you make one with the option to keep the coin tray?

Thanks man. I hope this time, the production actually takes place!

Hongkong- we will do a stock sylted one eventually, but I really wanted to come out with some original parts to start.
JIN-Thanks for the good words. The truth is that you guys are the ones that will decide whether or not I hang around as a vendor,if I do not get orders for these parts or custom parts, then my business will go nowhere. I have hundreds of hours invested and thousands of dollars making all of these molds.
There is no minimum order for these parts, and 1 to however many are sold will be ready to ship shortly after the group buy ends. We are a custom producer, but I made all of these parts because I want to put them on my own car, so I am all set to produce. I can make whatever carbon parts you want, but as a custom fabricator I cannot simply make a bunch of new molds without a guaranteed sale. By the time the rest of the products are updated, you will see the 19 unique products available for this group buy. That was quite a bit of work, without a single sale.
So, don't worry about production taking place. All of these parts listed (and our other's on the way) are production ready, and one offs or custom jobs can have a turnaround of a week depending upon the part.

As a side note, we got about 2 feet of snow up here, so our new products won't be up till tomorrow.

Thanks guys ,
John

John, here's a guide on how sellable your items are gonna be. Come out with the parts that we have been repeatedly asking for, and see how many hits and how often your thread stays at the top of the page man.

Have been observing the Nasioc threads for a while and have noticed yours doing really well, considering this is almost like your first day of posting!

Keep it up man, I will be calling you guys soon once you get all the custom parts ready ...

Moose, there is no problem with making a p1 lip. Impossible to find, or what? What is needed for me to make the part is the lip to make a mold from, and a buyer willing to put up cash for the first lip. I am a custom fabricator, so I can make almost anyhting, but a firm buyer is needed. PM me for a quote. Thanks, John

The REAL V2 lip is split into two pieces and has a small STi decal thing in the center...

If we could get a CF version 2 lip made in 1 piece (like the Ver 1 lip) I would buy it, NO QUESTION... I know a couple other people that would too!

In fact click here and let Qvelocity know if you are intersted!!

I have been able to find a fiber glass one through Procarparts I think. I am also located in Aurora and am interested in visiting your shop with my check book. Let me know what you think.

Maybe we can workout some type of sponsorship so the guys around here can see you work first hand.

Hey John,

question about the spoiler center. My question is I'm suppose to be getting the spoiler back from the paint shop tomorrow, and I was just wondering if your going to epoxy the piece on, how will the edges be done?? Or will I just have a CF center piece with a ridge all the way around??

Can you share some thoughts with me? I WILL have it done, but I would just like some assurance about how it will turn out.

Thanks -Tom

I will have to post them via imagestation saturday, because my web gal is out of town. I just met with Bret and Troy today. They were very cool, and I am hoping to get some parts for gc8s at the show. I will be at the autocross if you want to chat, in a blue svt focus though the wrx is hoodless and awaiting its new turbo system (if I can pull it off I guarantee no-one at the show will have anything like it). I'll email you some carbon pics tomorrow though, I'd love to see another person with my carbon stuff at the show. Thanks, John

MANY thumbs up for these CF parts! This is my first time seeing this thread, and though I haven't read through it--and apologize if this has been said already--I'm anxious to see what GC parts you come up with. :)

I'm personally mostly interested in shifter trim/interior stuff, though maybe a belt/battery cover would be cool, too. I was going to get the factory, fake CF stuff for my dash and shifter since SoA has a sale on it now, and still might (no offense to you guys, I know the real CF is nicer but I'm on a budget!!), but....

...Well, let's just see what comes out. :D

any chance you guys can make a fiberglass skidplate? i know it's not carbon fiber, but i figure you guys can make the mold and just use different materials. i asked a machine shop for a quote and they said $100 in welding plus materials for a 3/16" aluminum one. i'm about to attempt to make this on my own, but figured i'd run it by you guys to see how much something like this would cost. approx 29" wide, 28" long with a lip on the front and a taper towards the rear, to cover a bit further back from the jacking plate behind the oil pan.

If you can make the gauge surround that holds 2 gauges in it (like the autometer one that probably will never come out), I can have 5-6 of them sold right away. There are a bunch of us waiting for the autometer surround to come out, but it is always being delayed. I would rather have a cf version, and you can get them done before autometer.

Hey, just wanna check what the grab handle is for? Is it for the battery cover too?

How about making a carbon fiber version of the air intake piece that sits facing the grill ( the one that looks like a flattened horn ). I know AVO makes one, but I don't wanna brand on my carbon fiber. Anyway, they are also charging ridiculously for it.

Jin, the grab handles are for the inside of the car on the headliner, where your passenger grabs when you are turning, also know as the "oh sh.. handles"
I am doing an airintake like that, I'm not sure how much avo charges though.

I can find a trunk locally, I just need someone to place a pre-order so I can start on a mold. Thanks

I would be interested in a Zerosports replica splitter made entirely of carbon fiber, if that's possible. Right now I'm still using the WRX intercooler but might upgrade to an STi-sized unit in the future. Would it be possible to build a splitter that features a removable adapter that allows one splitter to fit both intercoolers? Hopefully something that fits better to the interior contours of the WRX hood than the typical Zerosports replicas.

Andrew-If you NEED a lip, then you have to be able to commit to buying one or getting some people to prepay for one. The process of making molds is very expensive. I need someone who already has a lip to mold from, and we can start from there. Thanks

Ya know if I buy a lip, why would I make another? I could see several people going in on a lip to have a mold made, but what do we get out of that. Do we have to pay full price for the C/F version? Some type of arrangement would be expected as your company can then produce and sell from that mold. Just my 2 cents.;)

Qvelocity: "Getting" people to buy somthing on an online forum I don't know how to do. I don't know anyone with one for a mold donor.

I could and would pay you today if the product was available, and I believe many others would as well. You must know if 10 or 20 P1 lips were made, they would not just sit around; people would fight over the right to buy one.

What he said. You could make bank on these if YOU, the vendor commit.

If you buy a fiberglass lip, make 20 CF copies, and sell them for the sweet price of $300 shipped, thet would bring you $6,000.

Isn't $6,000 minus costs motivating?

Imprezive/Andrew-Thanks for the persuasive arguments. The truth is that I am quite busy with custom work, but as soon as I slow down a bit I will have some time to do molds. Anybody who put up their own p1 lip would get a deal on a carbon lip. Although I am a vendor, I am also the manufacturer so I have got to take care of current orders first.

QVelocity,

Did I read it right? You are in the process of making a V2 lip for wagons???

See, I asked OE Tuning if they can make a wagon lip. They wanted several people to sign up and begin production. I have started a thread under "Dress-up and Style" asking who wants a wagon lip. Now, whoever comes out with this lip first (QVelocity or OE Tuning) will get our (wagon owners) business.

What if I supply you with a GC8 Stock Gauge Pod and you can make a Defi look one to fit 52mm and 60mm Gauges.

You will have the stock fit and all you would need to to somehow make the three rings for the gauges instead of the flat look.

Is that doable?

Thanks,
Kevin

Dear Qvelocity,

Can you guys make a full carbon fiber WRC Hood ( with the big air dam in front of the hood and a bigger hood scoop ) like the ones the real WRC Cars have? I know that PKZero was making one, but they just suddenly disappeared. As of now, I know nobody that is doing any. Can you guys do one up? Its for a 03 WRX.

Well I actually dealt with him through ebay/pay-pal.. and the items did arrive (console, door trims, shroud and battery cover).. But all but one of them was in my opinion un-acceptable.. just a piss poor job at best.. he then later said he had to rush and would send me non-prototype pieces as soon as he got a chance.. think that was 3-4 months ago.. I think the guy got in over his head.. probably didnt start out as a scam.. still I hope those who paid with paypal used insurance or didnt wait too long.. that's horrible.. As a matter a fact (as it was awhile ago).. I think as the 30 days for paypal came close I warned him I would cancel the order as I was no longer protected via paypal.. they arrived in about 3 days after that (took 3 weeks)
