David,

HKS makes 46mm cups, and you could always email Michael Pang @ www.omorimeter.com for a 45mm Omori cup :D

the hks cup fits the 45 mm omori perfectly; i have one for my boost gauge. you need to drill into your column, however, to run the wiring, but no big deal.

P-107 is for the OEM gauge pod ,it's just a face plate for the 45mm gauges and the mounting hardware, I don't think they make an 45mm A-pillar pod, nobody does as far as I know.-James

Oh my dear lord - if you are pulling my leg on these may you spend the rest of your days in a Toyota Prius

I HAVE MONEY FOR YOU
PLEASE TELL ME YOU HAVE A 45 MM MECH BOOST GAUGE WITH A YELLOW NEEDLE!!

:D

I will paypal, credit card, write you a check, kiss you wherever you want if you just let me know what to do!!!

(Long story short, my gauges are complete EXCEPT for the 45mm mech boost, and I feared I would never find one again!)
Big thanks to Ballz for turning me on to this!!!!!

EDIT: Nevermind, I have suck - I just paypal'd you - it's coming from CirrusVK30@aol.com, aka Kyle

Seriously, I know I sound desparate, but I had on order 4 gauges - EGT, Oil Pres, Oil Temp and mech boost. I got 3 of the 4, and then the whole "thing" with Omori came up and I am SO anal I thought I was going to lose sleep cause I would never find a matching gauge to complete my setup! THANK YOU THANK, OH THANK YOU KIND SIR!

PS. where the hell did you get these from!? Omori supposedly stopped making them!?

CirrusWRX,
Good God, I would fly to Japan and make these myself just to avoid spending the rest of my days in a Toyota Prius ;) I do have a number of them in stock and will make sure yours is definitely sent out tomorrow.

Omori USA is distributing in the states and is very serious about meeting demand. J-Spec Tuning is very serious about meeting our customer's expectations and will stock a reasonable amount of gauges at all times. Obviously the Omori Meter line is so extensive that we can't stock every particular item type but we will be keeping the more popular gauge types in stock.

Just so you know we're not pulling your leg, check out the pic.

BTW, thanks for your order!

Did you contact Omori to make "custom gauges?" I've been on the line with Omori Malaysia and Japan, and they only sought to make our imperial wrx-look deal if they could be guaranteed 50+ manufactured units...if so, GOOD JOB! I'm sure they'll go like HOTCAKES! (wish I waited and bought an imperial EGT from you guys...but I'm still happy with my metric:D ) Looks like No'mori is back to Omori!

it does fit the OEM cup. spray a bit of wd40 on the outside of the gauge to get it in. yes, you can use the factory wiring. you will cut the harness off that plugs into the OEM gauge and wire it directly to the Omori.

I just purchased one through your site. I had to type in 'omori.htm' at the end of your site's url to get to the page 'cause I didn't see the link at the top of the page. That one works.

Looks like the link under 'Current Specials' takes you to "///C%7C/Tuner%20Spec%20I/J-Spec%20Tuning/omori.htm". Ain't gonna work. Get your web dude to fix his code.

It has been done before but it will need trimming of the faceplate. As for the price, $510 for all three includes the EGT probe. The only thing you need to complete the installation is to purchase a Subaru oil galley plug for about $10-14/ depending on which Subaru dealer you go to.

I will post the part number of the galley plug soon.

Hi Neil,
Which one are you looking for? As long as its electrical and more of the "mainline" type (boost, egt, oil press and oil temp), I will have it in two weeks - Sizes are 45mm, 52mm and 60mm. I am putting another order together and a decent amount would be on the first shipment.

Can I ask what application this Cameleon gauge would be for?
Thanks,
Thaison

Sure you can ask :-). Seriously, the gauges would need to match the red lighting of the new STi. How much for Boost, EGT, and Oil Temp all in 60mm electric?

Thanks - Neil

Lucky man - I wish I had the problem of matching an 04 STi gauge cluster...I was thinking about the STi when putting together subsequent orders. The fact is there are red needle with red backlighting/black face gauges that can be made by Omori. The Cameleon ones have white needles:( Plus, they are more expensive. Just my recommendation that you would rather wait for the Red needle w/red backlighting combo. I can get that but it will have to be end of April - mid May. Still in time for the first shipment of STi's:D

Pricing should be the same as the WRX look gauges. And as usual, they will be in imperial measurements.

If you're interested please email me.
Thanks,
Thaison

OK .. so I am being a bit lazy here and kinda a n00b .. but oh well ... anways what EXACTLY do I need to order to get the set up that Solidbreakz (sp) has in his ride? Have no clue what is in the middle of the column there .. but I like the dual pod look and it allows me to not put a big guage pod on my dash .. which in my world is a good thing. I am guessing a 45mm EGT and Boost gauge (factory wire up is electrical?) and the extra cup for the EGT is ?

Thanks in advance for the help .. my clock and dash thank you as well

Fej- I agree that SoLiDbReAkZ has a pretty sweet setup. SoLiDbReAkZ, could you let us know what type of pod that is. As for that thing in the middle, its a V1 radar detector - nice.

I could answer the question about the gauges though. The boost gauge can either be mechanical or electrical. If you purchase a mechanical one, you'll be bringing in a rubber pipe in from the engine compartment to the gauge. If it's electrical, the sensor remains in the engine compartment and a wire is connected between the sensor and the gauge. The EGT gauge is only electrical.

DING DING DING!! yup..I bought another pod from Exeter Subaru in NH. They charged me over $100 for just the cup, but they were the ONLY dealership i called that were willing to part out the boost kit. That is one EXPENSIVE piece of rubber, let me tell you...

That's a great setup man - I couldn't figure out who you had to kill to get that other factory gauge cup - Yeah, it was $100, but man it is such a PERFECT fit, there is nothing else close to it. The contors, the shape, the size, the color - it's the perfect solution, though there are other "more than adequate" one's out there.

Best I can do you for is to combine the instructions from these two sources.

This job dosn't take much skill, just patience. The hardest part is lining the 45mm guage up properly in the cup before pushing it in, use teflon grease, wd40 or something greasy. Good luck.

I do not have the 45mm gauge pods right now. I am trying to find a high quality source that is more reasonable in price than what is currently available (Lamarco).

Here's a preliminary pic, I don't have them hooked up yet but I figured I would get a head start while I had a few free minutes.BTW this pod was a PITA to get these to fit, it would be nice if the holes were actually 60mm. I also had to cut the mounting brackets in half to get them in there to hold the gauges in place.

where did you get your LT pod from. I ordered mine from vivid the same day I ordered the gauges and of course it hasn't arrived yet. I emailed them today and they said they don't have it in stock, but they will next week. Given their reputation I figure I better start looking elsewhere. Looks nice BTW.

Also, thanks for the fast shipping on my gauges Thaison.

It is probably because pbase doesn't allow linking to the photos- not positive though. You should open an acct at http://www.digitalpose.com you shouldn't have any problems linking your photos from there.

I need a 45mm EGT gauge. Whats the price with the probe? What else would I need to get this installed? Is this something a fairly mechanic oriented guy could do? I installed my own mechanical boost gauge and muffler, but I'm not sure if the EGT would require welding or drilling. I have a catless uppie, but it doesn't have the hole for the probe :(

Thanks

Hi Dennis,
The 45mm EGT Gauge comes with everything you need for installation, including the EGT probe and the bung to tap the exhaust manifold. You do not need to buy anything else - except for a pod.

The installation of the gauge itself + the wiring is pretty easy. I am pretty mechanical myself and installed the gauge but decided to forego the drilling and tapping of the exhaust manifold. Left that up to a profession. There's going to be a lot of opinions on how hard/easy this is and whether you should remove or not remove the manifold to drill. We probably don't need to debate this here ;) but as a vendor I will always side on the cautious approach and recommend removing the manifold, drill, clear out the shavings and tap.

Try this thread - the person, Brian, who started it got some great pics of the install
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=182975

Hope that helps,
Thaison

Hi Dennis,
The probe goes into a bung that is provided with the gauge set. The hole that needs to be drilled and tapped to accomodate the bung is 1/8" PT (not NPT).

The thing is the directions say 1/8 PT not 1/8" PT. I think the 1 is pitch in mm and the 8 is thread count per cm. The measures would be metric not imperial.

Going to start a thread in Electrical and Lighting to move the discussion out of the For Sale.

J-Spec Tuning
04-21-2003, 12:09 AM
Hi,
All gauges should be in on Tuesday, April 22nd. When I verify the shipment, I'll turn on Paypal for all the gauges again.

As for Mech vs Electrical - the electrical gauges has a warning function. The electrical 60mm gauges also have Peak, Hold and warning functions. Mech doesn't. If you want the warning function, go with the electrical. If not, stay with mech for boost. For Oil press though, I would highly recommend electrical. A mech oil press gauge would require you to bring oil from the engine, through the firewall and into the passenger compartment. 100 psi of oil in the pass compartment is generally not a good idea.

Thanks,
Thaison

I have a 52mm DIN (the one without the hoods) tracking and in route I will post with three Omori gauges when installed.

By the way the big pod is not intrusive where it is located - the top is about 100mm from the center pod mounting location. As for line of sight I can see the entire hood scoop over it so it is not an obstruction. However, all I have to do is glance and I absolutely know what my turbo pressure and EGTs are. I guess for now the only attention it requires is that it looks so kewl I just have to keep looking at it - hopefully the novelty wears off. :p

The movement you described is not normal. Yes, please check the hose and the 3 way fitting. If there is still an issue, give us a call and we'll make sure everything gets fixed.
Thanks,
Thaison

Thaison,

I used all factory setup for installation as I was replacing the stock gauge, just popped out old one and put in Omori gauge.

Double checked all vaccuum lines, no kinks and line was snug up tight against back of Omori gauge...needle still looks flutterly/wobbley when it sweeps...

called you and left a message.

Thanks

When I did the installation, the only thing left from the original kit was the electrical wires running to the radio, and the mounting cup on the steering column.

I understand most haven't done this, but I replaced the hoses and fitting with the Omori pieces. NOTE HOWEVER: that a special t-fitting (P94) is required, as is not the one included in the box.

If worse comes to worst, just ask to have a P94 fitting shipped to you and swap in the Omori hoses.

I just wanted to relay a story to you guys that is a prime example of what customer service is and the benchmark that all vendors should aspire to.

I recently purchased a 45mm Omori mech. boost gauge from J-Spec Tuning. I installed it and after about a day the needle started to experience some jerky fluttering movements during its sweep. I emailed Thaison about this and the same day he offered me some advice about changing out the factory T fitting. I proceeded to do this but to no avail. That night Thaison phoned me at my house at 9:00pm, which speaks volumes of his commitment and customer service, to verify that the problem had been remedied and that I was satisfied. When I told him that the needle sweep was still erratic, he promptly offered up a replacement gauge, no questions asked!! I received the gauge today and am very happy indeed.

This ladies and gentlemen is a class act and the type of vendor that is a sheer pleasure to do business with. I have nothing but praise and admiration for Thaison and his operation. He and J-Spec tuning are an invaluable asset to our Subaru community and have earned every bit of patronage and respect from this Subaru owner.

Best Regards,

Mark

Thaison had warned me there was substantial work involved to get the 52mm angled faceplate to fit the stock pod.

I knew it would fit (based on seeing installations of flat faced 52mm pods that didn't look that bad) and went ahead and ordered. It does fit!

But by no means do not estimate the amount of work that needs to be done. The stock housing needs to be cut and the faceplate needs to be cut. How the top of the faceplate area on the pod looks when you are done is highly dependent on your skill at working with plastic, the amount of planning you do and your level of patience. I am completely satisfied with the result until I find a pod I am happy with that fits 52mm gauges. (I personally don't like the DEFI design - it is too much both in regards to slope and hood size and faces straight back.)

I will post pictures after I have touched up some of the scratches I inflicted on one part of the faceplate.

The exact mods are you need to trim off the lip on the left side of the faceplate. Trim off the right and left lips on the pod. Trim the inside of the tabs on the faceplate. Trim the top of the faceplate area to accept the height of the faceplate (this is the area that may look the most hacked depending on your skill). My choice of attacks at installing it was intentional so that any poor workmanship showed up underneath the upper lip of the pod where it hopefully would not be as noticable.

If you decide to do this: have confidence, have a plan, have patience and like I do have a spare stock pod.

To repeat it fits, it works - it is NOT easy.

The 45mm angled face should pose less problems since though the outside is the same size it can be mounted from the back instead of the front as I needed to with the 52mm.

Oil pressure remote mount sender hose installed in the gallery plug used by the stock oil pressure idiot light behind and underneath the alternator. (Please always disconnect the battery ground when messing with the alternator hot wire.) When I get the T-fitting I can have both the stock and aftermarket oil pressures off this same tap.

I have installed from left to right an 80mm combination turbo/EGT gauge (EGT still not hooked up since I still haven't done the uppipe, :sigh: ), 52mm intake air temp, 52mm oil pressure (with warning), 52mm oil temperature (with warning). Note that 52mm is a very difficult install in the stock pod. I went from the front and so it is a bit hacked up - if I were to do this again I would install the faceplate cutting from the rear. The bottom, left and right of the pod need to be trimmed and the left of the faceplate needs to be cut (I tried to bend it slightly distorting the left cutout.

Much better than stock, no?

http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=243103

This is a shot of lit up. Note that the backlighting is slightly brighter than the dash. This does a couple things with my crummy 2.2 megapixel - it blurs the gauges (which are actually quite sharp when lit) and it also way over exagerates a shadow on the turbo gauge that I can only figure is due to the EGT LCD in the center top of the gauge.

http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=243105

Thaison thanks a lot for putting up with me through all this and getting everything that I wanted special orders and all. Let Omori know they need to find a way to fit one more light at the top since the present lights are slightly shadowed by the LCD. Oh and make an 80mm pod cup so we don't have to use a VDO :gags: . Other than that extremely pleased.

NOT TO BASH ANYONE, BUT I RECEIVED THIS E-MAIL ON 5/5/03 FROM OMORI AND THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD:

Thank you for your email.

Please be advised at this time that Omori Meter North America has unexpectedly ceased operations for the time being. Our manufacturer in Japan has been unable to fulfill its contractual obligations to us, leaving us with little to no inventory of gauges and parts to provide our North American customer base with an appropriate level of service. At this time, new Omori Meter products will no longer be available in North America until the situation can be rectified. Currently, we are taking legal action on behalf of ourselves and our customers to restore distribution and provide the service you deserve.

If you are a current customer in need of service, we regret to inform you we will be unable to provide you assistance at this time. Since the manufacturer is unable to or simply refuses to supply us with replacement gauges and parts, we have no way of providing you warranty service. This is beyond our control, and we sincerely apologize. Please understand that Omori Meter Mfg, Co., Ltd, in Japan is solely responsible for the current situation we face, and that we have been left with no support from them just as you, our paying customers and distributors, have.

Eric, I'm 99% sure that these gauges for sale here haven't been sourced through Omori-NA. They've been under stress from Omori Japan for months now.

However, Omori Japan is manufacturing gauges based on private contract of 50 or more gauges per order.

I'm to assume that Thaison is one of the intelligent few that is making use of this opportunity.

Attention to detail - go to Omori's site in Japan.

http://www.omorimeter.co.jp/english.html

Now go to overseas dealers link.

Note Omori USA is the distributor for America. Omori NA can say whatever they want - but clearly there was a falling out and I am sure there is another side to the story. (Like I have had a problem with almost 90% of the vendors NA used to try to distribute through.) Either way Omori USA is the entity supplying J-Spec and Gruppe-S since those two are dealers of Omori USA.

http://www.omoriusa.com/auth_dealers.htm

So you are communicating with the wrong entity if you want to contact current distributors or dealers of Omori in America.

Omori USA is doing well since becoming the distributor and is supplying their dealers very well for a product that has never been widely available in the US.

I have a set of 3 52mm gauges
EGT Fuel Press, Air Fuel.
All are installed, but I cant find a decent gauge pod to hold them...
I bought one from another vendor, and it doesnt fit the car or the gauges...
I would prefer a pillar mount for all three gauges, but it has to fit the WAGON, and fit corectly. Dont want it looking rigged...
If not a pillar mount, does anyone make a 3 gauge pod 52mm to replace the clock insert...
I want one that attaches like the oem clock... Is this possible?

Do you have the "sport" gauge pack?

If so there is nothing to splice on the OE wiring you can put male bullets on the Omori wires and plug them into the pack wiring. I did not need to splice a single OE wire to install any of mine. Routing senders well that is a different story. :)

No splicing - it is just routing senders which is always a bit of a pain.

jjimpreza - We only have a few 02/03 WRX Look mech boost gauges in stock. Lots of electrical ones. As for tapping for power without cutting wiring - it can be done but you will need to fashion some electrical fittings to tap the extra outlet from the stereo.

xjohnx - a few in stock and you can order via the Omori page on our website.

We have posted pics for the HKS pods for the gauges. For your convenience, I have also posted it here.
Thanks
Thaison

Ordered one, please make sure mine is the 03 look one as i did not see any sort of way to distinguish on your website. My name is John Tatum and it'll be going to Richmond VA :)

This plugs right into the port installed OEM pod right?

Ive had a horrible experience with my hks 46mm gauge pod. The omori 45mm mech. boost guage fits inside it perfect, but it mounts rather bad and the green piece of plastic to hold it up is sloppy. It slightly blocks the tach from 0-2000 rpm. The back pops off on mine also :( . Sorry to post this since you carry the hks pods, and you delivered my gauge on time in perfect condition. Maybe i did a bad job install, i duno. Im going to buy an oem gauge pod housing and stick my 45mm omori boost guage in there. What other type of guage pod options are out there for the 45mm omori gauges J-Spec Tuning? Thanks!

Hi David,
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the HKS pods. I started sourcing them because a number of my customers bought our gauges and purchased the HKS pods (from HKS) and really like it - hence the picture in one of my previous post. If $100-$110 for a pod is no issue, the OEM pod is the way to go.

We wanted to provide our customers a less expensive pod alternative. Unfortunately, for 45mm pod solutions, the only ones I have seen (and I have really searched too) is the HKS and the Lamco pod. And the HKS solution may not be around much longer since they have eliminated their 45mm gauge line.

Thanks,
Thaison

Hi All,
I know a number of folks have been waiting a very long time for it but the 1/8 PT to 1/8NPT nipples are in. We had to get them custom manufactured.

The nipple are $15/piece shipped. If you are purchasing EGT gauges, they will be $10.
Thanks,
Thaison
