So in a previous post i described my run in with a curb in the rain that requires bassically a new suspension for my WRX's left front corner. When the body shop tried to order the parts from my local dealer Eddie Accradi in Ft lauderdale Fl. they encountered some problems. They wouldnt order the parts right away and they wanted money up front. Worse than that though, they needed to order tie rods and said they can not order them alone, but had to order an entire rack and pinion set up. I may be wrong, and tell me if i am, but this doesnt seem at all right to me. Fortunatley my insurance went along with it and is paying for everything. What do you guys think??

I think you should slow down in the rain and stop crashing so my insurance doesn't go any higher.

I hope someone answers you the same way the next time you have a problem and ask for help.
Ft_Laud, you should be able to get the tie rods separately.
The other situation might be in relation to your body shop not paying their bill from the Subie store. Lots of times body shops will pay dealerships when they feel like it and wind up getting themselves put on probabtion. ;)

thanks for the response deadbolt. At this point it doesnt really matter since the insurance said they would pay for the rack and pinion. I just couldnt believe that was the only way to get a tie rod.

Ok. Maybe I was a bit harsh and if so I apologize. But I'm so tired of people posting on these boards that it was the rain's fault, or the curb's fault, or the favorite scapegoat of all, the RE92's fault that they crashed. That's they way I took your post to read and replied accordingly.
Just once I'd like to see someone post that they were driving too fast for conditions, or way over their head for their ability and experience, and crashed.

Well yes you can get the tie rods sperate
but, if you hit hard enought damage the inner and out tie rod, it is most defintly a good thing that they are goint to replace the rack, as you probably did some damage to it. It may not show up now, but later down the road if you had trouble with it you would know the cause.
So its not such a bad thing after all.
