Sure it took about two and a half hours, but my baby is gleaming! I don't think she was this shiny when new. And all for $15, for the three Meguiar's products: cleaner, polish, and wax.

yep, i've used the three step also. Very nice. If your looking for a good tire dressing. try meguiar's tire product. It works great and smells soooo good. smells like grape bubble gum.

Dude... No doubt! That stuff is the shít. My car looked WAY better than when I drove it off the lot...and it was almost 2 years old when I did the 3 step on it! Here are a couple pics of my car after I did it.

BuMp.... *BRAKE*... phew...

Meguiar's Cleaner, Polish, and Carnuba Wax. They're numbered in order of application. Essentially, the cleaner prepares the paint for the polish, which sets the stage for the wax. Just be sure to use different applicators for each one, and 100 percent cotton towels for removal/buffing. Note that some towels have a cotton face, and a polyester backing. Those will scratch the paint.

Meguiar's has really set it up so that it's a foolproof system. Just be prepared to have at least a couple of hours, with washing, cleaning, polishing, then waxing. The nice thing is that the cleaner is the hardest part. Once the paint is cleaned, the polish and wax just glide on and off.

Note: some people also use a clay bar to get the same effect of the paint cleaner. I was going to try it, but figured that $20 for a clay bar vs. $15 for all three Meguiar's products was a no-brainer.

The Meguire's clay bar is crap. Or at least the one that I bought. It left clay all over my paint and it took me 2 hours to scrape it all out from the one swipe of the bar I made.

I'm never buying Meguire's **** again, because that is exactly what it is.

remarcable, how did you apply the clay? please don't tell me you did it when the car was dry?

i haven't used Mequire's clay bar, but i've used Clay Majic. Using clay is the way to go if your detailing your car in a 3step process such as this.

you must have used the clay bar incorrectly.

I have used in it on numerous occasions, and had absolutely no problems EVER. If you are leaving behind clay you are either:

1) pressing to hard with the clay bar, you only need to apply very light pressure
2) not applying enough of the spray on cleaner before using the bar.

Aside from that, there is no reason to insult such a fantastic product! I swear by it. Please take the time to read the instructions thoroughly before you claim the product is inferior. Then give it another try.

I have had very good results from the <FONT COLOR="red">"Mothers"</FONT c> product line also. I find it a bit easier to apply and remove than the Meguiars, but to each his own. I actually mix a bit, Meguiars "fine-cut cleaner" and then Mothers for the cleaner/swirl remover, polish, and carnuba wax.

I can't wait to do this to my car in the next few weeks. It usually takes me 12hrs to two days though. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif

meguires is the shiznit-o-bang!

Your car looks great, but you are waiting your time with a 3 step cleaner, polish and wax. How many other companies make a 3 step?....none. The reason is that you dont need it. Buy a cleaner and wax in one, like Zymol (dont get the one made in Illinois) get the proper one made in Germany. This will cut the whole process down to about 1 hour and will give you the same result. Oh and if you want awesome tires, try a Stoners product called "More shine, less time" it shine's as good as anything out there but does not leave any residue or gel buildup that attracts dirt. This is all stuff my dad uses on his car and he has a Porsche 911, he orders most of it from a professional detail guy who does mail order. Give it a try, it cant hurt, plus it's cheaper than buying all three Meguir's.

Meguirs actually recieved one of the lowest scores in a test I recently read on waxes. It scored very low in ease of applicability, suprisingly it has extremely low protecting qualities and the shine was good, but can be beat. Try some Zymol and you will see the light, it was rated top amongst reasonably priced waxes and you can get it at most automotive stores.

I have had the best luck with Meguiar's products, but I don't use the consumer products. I use the Clay Bar, followed by a couple of coats of # 9 Swirl Remover Polish, then a couple of coats f #26 Hi Tec Yellow Wax. I have tried a lot of various combinations of different products by a lot of companies and Megiuar's is the best I have found. Anyone who tells you that a one step can give you the same cleaning, shine and protection that a 3 step by Megiuar's is WRONG. I occasionally do use a cleaner wax for in between cleanings, and it does look ok, but it is nothing compared to the show car quality shine that I get when I go full bore on the car. Ask anyone who has seen my car.

I agree that if you are going for a show quality shine, then you need to do more than just a cleaner and wax in one, but Meguires 3 step that you buy at Track Auto is a waste of money and time. Most of us like a clean and shiny car without all the hassle of spending hours and hours cleaning, polishing and waxing. I am just saying that instead of the 3 step meguires, try a cleaner and wax in one, and see some quality results in half the time.

No, the Meguiar's 3-step is most emphatically not a waste of money or time. I have tried all sorts of waxes, including the "proper" Zymol which works great but is a pain to deal with, and doesn't last very long. The blue "consumer" stuff is good too, as are the Mother's products.

But my car has never looked better than it has after I used the Meguiar's set up. I would never presume to say that everyone else would get the same results, nor would I ever say that something else sucks, or is a waste of time. All that I can do is report my own results, and say that something worked or didn't work for me, since that's the only template that I have.

That's why they make a lot of waxes, I guess. Not everyone likes the same products or seem to get the same results.
