I finally have my Morrette Twin headlamps installed and working from Graham
Goode in the UK, with pics ready to post. As you may have seen in the GB in
Vendor forum I ordered this set of headlamps directly from Graham Goode as
soon as they told me they were ready for the US spec cars, before that GB
was started. The total from Graham Goode for the set was $488 with
shipping. Apparently I was the first to receive this US spec set because
the wiring set up wasn't right. They didn't plug and play at all. Even
though I asked before I ordered them if it was a direct plug and play, and
was told yes. It was all worth it though, they look fantastic. I was thinking
that the OEM fugly things were so ugly and big they had to be bright and
that's why they are ugly. Make no mistake the Morrette's are BRIGHTER. They
really light up the road with a real sharp cutoff. Euro lighting at its
best.

The set is accompanied by a set of fairly easy to follow instructions for physically installing headlamps. To install the units you first need to remove the grill. The grill is secured to the front of the car with 6 press type clips. I used a needle nose pliers and pressed each clip and gently
pulled the grill off. Next you need to remove the body colored 'plates' that sit between the grill and the OEM headlights. There a 3 clips on each plate. Two on the top and one on the bottom inside the plate. These clips are like the clips that secure the fender wheel well if you have done the intake silencer Mod. Pop the center of the clip up and then pull the whole clip assembly out of the whole. Also remove the bottom slide clip that stays on the bumber when the plates are removed. Next the OEM lights themselves need to come out. Unplug the wire harnesses that supply power to the lights. A smaller squeeze plug for the indicators and the larger twist plug for the main headlight assembly. Next you need to remove the 3 x 10mm bolts that hold the headlight down. Two of the bolts are on the front grill area and the third is on the top corner of the lamp. Once these are removed the lamp should pull out of its opening. To put the Morrette lamp in press the lamp into its location, secure the 2 x 10mm bolts on the front grill and use the supplied clip w/nut and bolt for the top mount. This clip is the only hardware change needed and is supplied. The set comes with a 'shroud' that is the outside of the lamp. This can be removed but I found once installed access to the bottom screw that mounts the shroud is blocked. So if you take the shroud off for easy access to the front grill bolts you can't fully mount the shroud. I mounted the units with the shroud on and needed an extension for my ratchet to clear the shroud.

I received the 'adaptor' plug from Graham Goode to provide the fix for the
incompatibility between the wiring. Lets just say I was a little
disappointed. Its hardly an adaptor and more of a pigtail extension with a
set of splicers. If I had wanted to splice into the harness I could have
done it with out the 'adaptor'. Even more troubling is that there was not
guide as to what colors on the Morrette lights go or splice to what colors
on the OEM harness. I don't think they know. Instead I took manners into my
own hands and disassembled a set of 9007 head light bulbs removing the male
connectors from the back of the bulb. I then cut off the Morrette main
harness plug and soldered a 9007 bulb pin onto each of the 3 leads, yellow,
2wire gray, and 2wire blue. I then proceeded to install the lights and
connect the harness. When I first tried to get this set up I couldn't get it
right. I didn't have a multi-meter, dark fell and I was being stupid. I
couldn't figure out how the harness wired to the main OEM harness with no
help from Graham Goode. Looking at them the next morning I was able to play
with them more and get the wiring fixed and working correctly.

The color code that worked for me was:
Drivers Side:
Morrette/OEM
Yellow to Yellow w/red stripe
Gray to Red w/blue stripe
Blue to Red

Passanger side/OEM
Morrette/OEM
Yellow to Yellow w/red stripe
Gray to Blue w/white stripe
Blue to Red

Wheather you splice the main harness with the supplied splicers is up to you. It's prolly easier than what I did. I knew not having the color code I was going to have to attach them a few times and didn't want to nick up all the wires splicing and resplicing. So I soldered the push pins. But now that the color code is known its prolly just as easy to cut back some of the plastic loom and use the splicers.

You can check my photopoint site for the individual pics as well as a few more.

Illmatic: I am trying to get another set of shrouds so I can paint a set a see which looks best. With the yellow I think the black looks good. Other than maybe white I think you might want to paint them.

Bill: I am going to try and make that meet. Last meet at Roger Williams Zoo I was taking delivery of my WRX. I will be at Lime Rock from Thurs tru Monday for the Grand AM/Speedvision races. I have an RV and a RV resevation spot. Come on out to the races! PM me. Lime Rock may wipe me out or I may have cashed in all my 'chips' with the wife so I can't commit quite yet, but I want to go.

Xeno:Yep, thats them, same ones, unpainted.

Please pardon my poor photoshop skills.

Please give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

J, what types of bulbs are they using?

They use H7 and H1. I placed an order for Eurolights for these but they are already so goddamn bright not sure I want to or need to change them.

Alex, I like that look. I like the aggressive styling of the Morrettes over others. The lenses are also really good on the Morrette's

Imprezer,

Thumbs up!!! I wasn't a fan of the Morette lights a while back, but they've grown on me.
*I* think they help the WRX, and yours looks great!!! Leave it in black, looks cool.

They remind me of robot eyes out of some sci-fi movie(please don't take that the wrong way). They might grow on me but right now I can't stop seeing robots.

they look cool lighted up, that's for sure. Those daytime pics suck so I can't tell how those look, but there is alot of black of the front end of the car. Definitlely try to paint those and then throw the pic up and I'll let you know (if you really want to know that is http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif).
