hey guys, i hope someone can help me with this. i tried a search and found nothing. the other day i was installing my alarm and once i put the dash back together i noticed that my fog switch doesnt light up anymore (it still turns on the fogs, just doesnt light up) i checked the plug in the back today and everything looks ok. one thing i did notice was a random white and black striped wire hanging from behind the fuse box. i dont know where it comes from or goes to for that matter. has anyone had this fog switch problem before? did the bulb inside just burnout? or could this mystery wire be the cause of the swtich not lighting up?

You sure you just didn't blow a bulb in the fog switch?

Yes, I believe that you can burn out the backlighting bulb. My hazard button, rear defogger button, and cruise control backlighting bulbs have all burnt out/broke. Do a search for over the past year, somewhere in the general section (looks I think) as someone modified theirs to look differently.

I think they made mention of the correct part numbers to look for/order. Also, you might want to check out Scooby Mods (http://www.scoobymods.com/) to see if they might have any info.

thanks so much guys, i figured it was the bulbs but its just weird cuz of the fact that before i had my dash apart everything worked. midnx03, you mention that your rear defoger switch doesnt work anymore... is it supposed to light up at all when its not in use? mine only lights up when i hit it, that makes it a PITA to find in the dark.

The day I noticed it wasn't backlit was the day I couldn't remember if it WAS backlit, so I'm not exactly sure. I think they are, and there is a little amber light that comes on when they're activated. Those amber lights still work, but they aren't backlite, which makes it interesting when I'm reaching for the hazards when experiancing hard braking in traffic.

Glad to hear things worked out. Mine are just another check-box that needs to get filled out. Maybe when summer comes around.
