I want to install cruise control on a MY00 L wagon. The car does not have the required wiring harness, so I'm attempting to fabricate it.

Does anyone have experience with this? Are there wiring diagrams available? What about sources for the required connectors (for module and actuator)?

I have an OEM cruise control kit for MY99. I think that has most of the major parts I'll need to do this.

Can anyone lend suggestions or assistance? Has anyone else done this?

Are you sure 99 and 00 are the same kit? Subaru changed them from year to year it seems.
The best I can do is send you to a site for a 97 install.
Why doesn't your car have the oem wiring? The cruise pieces should just plug right in?

You can probably buy the whole kit from a dealer for under $100.

If you check with the OEM suppliers, there is no kit for MY00. My friend with a MY99 OBS bought the appropriate kit for his car, so we put the cars side by side while we installed his. All the physical structures (mounting points, etc.) are the the same, but no wires. I've had the dash apart, I've looked under the hood. It's just not there. This is confirmed by the dealership parts and service guys.

So I got the MY99 kit and I figure I'll try to put the wires in.

Ultrasonic - what did you end up doing?

I was thinking about adding cruise to my 97 OBS, and my girlfriend's 2000 L. I'm glad I came across this thread, because it seems to explain why CC kits aren't available for 2000 models.

Did you get cruise installed, and if so, how?

I would like to know also. I want to install cruise on my '98 RS.
