View Full Version : Subi Gal Swimsuit Calendar???
The_Triton 04-03-2003, 09:35 AM I have a GREAT idea.
Subie Gal.........why don't you come out with a swimsuit calendar and sell it to get funds for the rallying???
I know that I would buy one:lol: Hell, I'm sure that alot of the guys/girls here would dig in their pockets to get one.
Just let me know if you need photo shoot ideas!!! I think there should be a Subaru in the background of every pic.
MattDell 04-03-2003, 09:40 AM I think the real question is: Who would want to see Subie Gal in a swimsuit? ;)

Burn!
Maybe Subie Gal could work out a deal with Sparco to model all their latest sexy safety equipment ;)
And, if that's a success, we could start a "Men of NASIOC" calendar. Who's with me? I'm sure the four or five women on here would all buy one...

Maybe I should have inserted some smilies. I admire the fact that she IS rally racing! That right there puts her in a catagory all in itself. Plus, I do think she is cute. But "creepy" is the last reaction that I was going for. Just wanted to have some OT fun.
Cyberdemon 04-03-2003, 11:56 AM What we really need is Tapper modelling all that safety equipment. Maybe Brucelee can be Mr. July.
All I'm saying is TINK ABOUDIT.

not fisher.
fisher has more respect for herself.
that was danica patrick. aka "the sell out."
i'm on 2 different womens racer discussion boards and email groups.... basically the consensus is we're disgusted by her actions within the female racing community... this type of portrayal of women trying to make it in a "male dominated sport "is not taken lightly.

Yes... but isn't the objective to fund the team, and to keep racing whatever it takes? Hell, if she's lucky enough to be able to fund her driving efforts by posing in some scantily clad clothing, I say more power to her.

i disagree, as do many of my fellow women racers.
there are other ways to fund a racing team.
you want respect?
drive and earn it

your right sex does sell. I personally think sexy female athletes actually help their proffessions by doing photoshoots like this. How many people now pay attention to tennis because of Anna?
women do the same thing as men. I've lost count how many women I've heard say the following.
Woman: "oh I like the yankees cuz Derek Jeter is soo cute" or "Tom Brady is so sexy, go Patriots." it works both ways.

Respect is important... but it doesn't pay the crew and it won't even pay for enough tires for a practice session.
I don't know a thing about this girl's position, but branding her with a scarlet letter on her chest because she took the "easy way" is awfully harsh.
And besides, what does posing in a magazine have to do with racing anyway? Are you upset with every woman who poses in a magazine or dances in a club to make some money?

you're missing the point :)
women in motorsports are a rare breed.
and we are trying to be respected.
there arent as many of us as you may think, and suprisingly most of us think and feel the same way. we're determined to make it legitimately, without whoring ourselves out.
i could really give a rats arse less about the private sector of sluts. they can do what they want. it's their body.
but when one of our own sets us back 20 years by doing a trash layout? just a few of us are going to get upset.
everyone is entitled to their opinion....
but mine is this was the wrong move.

I know that... but how is what she's doing reflecting negatively on you? If what you're saying were the case, any time a female accountant posed nude in playboy she'd be pushing the whole women in accounting movement back 20 years :p
Anyhow, as a man, I don't see a woman in a race car and go "Gee, I wonder if she's hot." I think "Gee, that's cool. I hope she does well." Seeing a hot chick in a Sparco suit with no undies on, or some IRL driver in her panties doesn't change that a bit for me, and I certainly hope that's the case for the other men here.
In other words: lighten up, and go kick ass ;)
Subie Gal 04-03-2003, 03:28 PM Tim.... you are most definately the exception to the general rule it seems ... most men see titti and ass and think titti and ass and that's it....
and i'm sure you know most men tend to be that way :)
i'm cool  this is just one subject u dont wanna get me started on! i havent spent the last 5 years working my ass off for nothing....
J.
Brady 04-03-2003, 03:30 PM jamie,
i WHOLLY respect your opinion on the matter, but I think that in many ways posing for FHM is breaking some stereotypes rather than reenforcing them.
The stereotype (guys, correct me if I'm wrong) is that "Girl Racers" are ugly grease monkeys (which you very much are not - and apparently neither is Dannica Patrick). Furthermore, whether you pose for a magazine or not has NO bearing on your driving ability. You either have it or you don't. Guess what! Many female drivers are playing with the big boys on the sole grounds that they are female and "get by," not because they are great racers (whew - you dodged another bullet there ;) ). Quite frankly, I don't feel that female racers should be respected in the sport because they have "morals," but rather they should be respected for the competency of their driving.
So, in short, it doesn't matter if you're in a magazine or not, if you can't drive, get off the track!
Subie Gal 04-03-2003, 03:35 PM bjlee
- good point, and nice insight.
are we really perceived as grease monkey's?
wow i guess i was never really concerned w/that one.
i just wish all men/peers thought the way you did.
unfortunately that's just not the case the majority of the time.
i've run into more than one brick wall in my few years in this sport.
and a lot of it is resentment from my so-called peers. i just smile and carry on... but it's been nearly impossible to be taken seriously... championship and all. dont get me started or we'll be here all weekend....
thanks for the feedback
Bottom Feeder 04-03-2003, 03:44 PM Quick question about Danica Patrick: is she any good? This is the first time I've heard anything about her, so I'm clueless. I'm just curious because if she's kicking everyone's ass in her chosen sport, then I don't see a problem with what she's doing (but then again, I'm a guy :D ), but if she's posing just to get the attention that her driving isn't getting her (like Anna Kournikova's tennis playing), then I can totally see Jamie's point of view.

no.
next question?
What I think a lot of you guys are missing is what it really is like out there as far as Jamie is concerned. I agree with what some of you are saying, but from my experience as one of Jamie's co-drivers and being on her race team, it's not what you guys think. People do treat her differently, I hear things, mumbled this and thats in the corner etc. Especially if we're doing well.
I get **** at car shows and stuff, people are floored by the fact that Jamie is a girl. I can't count the "you mean a GIRL drives this car?!" and the "well if a girl drives this, let me take her out in the dirt and show her how it's done". It pisses me off so much, I really have to reign in my anger and calm down before I bust their face. It reflects badly on her, and it reflects badly on me and the rest of the team. I hate it.
There is a huge stereotype out there, and from where I'm sitting it certainly hasn't been broken yet, and Jamie is doing exactly what she needs to do to break it; Drive hard and drive well. She'll at least break the stigma for herself, if not for other women racers out there.

So in order to set a presedence of "Respectful" photoshoots, what would lines would you not cross so as to not loose any of the ground that the female drivers have gained in the past 10 years?

I usually don't feel the need to publicly defend Jamie, but eh, there's a first for everything.....
I the two years that I've known Jamie, I'm for damn sure of one thing....she's worked hard and sometimes twice as hard for everything she's gotten. Those that second guess her achievements haven't one iota of an idea of what they're talking about.
Anyway....yeah the calander thing just isn't your thing J, I remember you toying with an idea similar to that about a year ago 'member? Isn't that a bunch of ****? Stupid male ego, when I'm sure Jamie would drive circles around any of them....

Yeah, right........
-=C=- 04-03-2003, 04:40 PM Maybe the chick that posed for FHM isn't that good at racing...Jamie, do you know?
My point is she may be the Anna of her sport...not good enough on talent, but she draws in the crowd because of her sexiness, posters, autographs, etc.
I'm sure there are a lot of guys that would go to a race just to see her, then end up watching real girl racers (since you can't check out the body when she's in the car...duh)
Course just like Anna is seen as a "never gonna be" in tennis, the same could be true of this girl...

Jamie is absolutely right. There's no way anyone's going to look at this girl and go, "She must be a talented driver."
I'm the first to say that Jamie and I don't always agree, but I will tell you, she is a sexy woman with a strong, independent personality and a definite opinion on things. And she's a helluva driver.
But there's a time and a place for both. Drive on the track - in public. Look like a hooch in private - for your boyfriend. But don't try to do both because you claim that you're getting more press for women drivers, etc., - save it - it's negative press. No one is ever going to think of you as a driver if you drop trou for every camera that comes by.
Look at Michelle Mouton. I wouldn't hit it with rhdude's d1ck and halfbaked pushing, but damn she could drive. And I respect that more than if she showed her tits.
Jamie's got some sexy photos, we all know she's hot. Now leave it alone and let her whip yo ass.
