If you don't want to play w/ your engine management much then you might be better off with a reflash or unichip.

unless you already have a laptop you really dont need a brand new laptop...you arent doing too much with the laptop anyways...all work is done by the utec itself...the laptop is used as a terminal to see what is going on in the utec...hmm not really clear but you know what i mean...save your money buy a used one...oh yea and another thing...so you're driving around logging on your brand new $2000 then you stop to get a bite to eat...are you sure you want to leave a 2G laptop in your ride?

Just get a laptop that can run win95 and Hyperterm. I got an old pentium 166 that they were going to scrap at work. I"m getting a power adapter for $15 off ebay. I think UTEC without a laptop is not a good choice.

You did the right thing- taking out the UTEC all the time can be a big pain.

Hey I just checked that out, and they don't come with windows 95 installed, you can buy the software as an accessor, $45 for windows 95, or $100 for windows 98. So basically its more like $250 to $350, still a GOOD deal!.

I also got one they were going to scrap at work. I paid $150 for a 233Mhz P2 with 64 megs of RAM. More than enough power to tune the UTEC.

I'd burn you a copy of 98 for the cost of shipping

Yup, Some laptops(newer ones) offer multiple interchangable bays. Having 2 battieries in your laptop will only help when yopur out doing some long logging/tunning runs.

Other then that you can always just carry an extra battery around with you and swap them out when needed.

This is not needed though. Only a convienience.
