Sup guys! I was wondering if there are tire shops that have low pro tires that stock up on BFGoodrich, Toyo, Dunlop, or Yokohama tires with pretty good prices. I need some for my new 17"x7.5" Gold Rota SDR rims. 225/45 or 235/40's will be good. Or should I just order from Tirerack.com?

I leave Cordova on the ferry on the 5th of May to Whitter. Any help to point me out which tire shop to go to is greatly appreciated. Also, how does the best tinting job in Anchorage? You guys have any meets for May?

Thanks guys!

Dont really know about tires, but for tint, I have only used Shades of Competition on Intl Airport Rd. They do a really good job, have a lifetime warranty against defects in the tint, and reasonable prices. Every once in a while, they have specials, but you just have to get them at the right time.

BFG has a warehouse down kinda by the port, they should have something in stock. Bought a set from them a few years ago at dealer cost. Was working at a dealer at the time, don't know if just anyone off the street can buy tires from them. If they won't sell to you, I think I can still get away with it. ;)

For tires in Alaska I would recommend TireRack. They have great prices on tires, and their shipping is reasonable even to Alaska.

On my 18's, even with 2 day shipping, I think I saved almost $300 off what they wanted at Muffler City.

Most other places have similar prices. Most tire places up here really jack up the prices, I know the shipping is high, but not that high!

Oh yeah...welcome to the Alaskan Forum!

Check with Muffler City on the corner of "A" street and 5th ave.
They have low pros in stock most of the time at this time of year. But don't rely on them for advice though;)

BTW the BF Goodrich is at 600 Warehouse ave.

Thanks guys, keep it comin' :D What are the price range for tinting for a WRX 4 door sedan anyways, so I have a rough idea on how much I'll be spending. I guess 25% or 30% is what I'm aimming for. Thanks guys and maybe I can see some of you when I visit. I'll be there for almost a week. I got to get my ding repaired on my door. The dealers fault when I bought the car , I ordered it online last year and their paying for the fix.

I would order from Tirerack for tires and I thinks its around $250 for window tint on a sedan.

Thanks guys! I just ordered me some Yokohama's from TireRack.com today and should have them in time before I leave Cordova. I'm gonna bring them up to Anchorage with me and have them installed and balanced. Any place that's good that will not mess up my rims when installing the new tires? KapaFool, thanks for letting me know how much I will be spending on tint.

Hahaha, another question? Any good places to paint my side skirts and foglight covers? You guys have any meets in May. Let me know if you guys have one on the 5th through the 10th and I'll try to show up. Laters everyone and thanks again.

Just some advice......do not paint the sideskirts. Just go buy the matched OEM sideskirts from Subaru. They should be around $230 and I think they come in silver, white, and blue. I have a set painted on an RS and mine are the OEM white on the rex. Its not worth painting the sideskirts. I was about to suggest some Yokohamas too.:D Are they the AVS100's??

Kapafool, thanks for the info. and yes they are the Yokohama AVS100's! :D Well, if I'm just to buy OEM sideskirts. Where can I get my foglight covers painted blue at? Cause I'm going to install a Blitz FMIC in the summer and need something to cover up the piping, unless I get a TurboXS FMIC which is way more expensive. I'm getting STi lights and slapping on some aftermarket HID's in them so most likely Blitz FMIC. Thanks for the response!

There's a couple of places I would think about for mounting low pro tires in town.

Eero has a Hunter "no touch" tire mounter. Last time I had my tires mounted there they did a really bad job of aligning the yellow dots with the valve stems and subsequently, I had a really crappy balance job.

Specialized Import Auto Service on International has a brand spanking new tire mounter that's supposed to do low pro. I had my tires done there this year and they did an excellent job. Dots are aligned as they are supposed to be and the balance job was fantastic.

Both places will be spendy as it takes more work to do a quality mount job on low pro. I think that Eero was osmething like $120 for a set of 4. Not sure what SIAS is going to charge since I was the first customer for the new machine.

I agree with Kapa, go for the OEM sideskirts. What kind of fog light covers do you have?

I would try SIAS for the mounting depending on the price. I had mine done at a little shop by my work, they did good with 40 series 18's, and it was only like $50 I think.

As for the meet, well if we do not have a full-fledged one, I am sure we can work out a mini-meet.

Later....Kris
