Minor example of Murphy's Law:

What is the best way to remove yellow road stripe paint from a car? It is mainly on the plastic/composite(?) wheel well and lower sidegaurd panel on a Jeep. Minor amounts on the metal car body as well. I was planning on a trade in tomorrow for my silver WRX wagon. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Just take it to the dealership and talk to them about trading it that way. It shouldn't cause a problem with the trade at all! I work in the service department of a dealership and we have people come in a lot-especially lately with the nice painting weather-with a ton of yellow paint. It takes some time, but our detail guys can get it off, and better to let the pros mess it up themselves. We have a special waxing stuff that one of my service writers uses (he used to be a detailer) the stuff does wonders. I'll get the name of it and post it. I'd say you'd be better off letting them worry about it though :)

Best bet is to go to an auto paint shop and ask what they'd recommend. However, since road stripe paint is almost always made from epoxy, an epoxy thinner might do the trick, but could play havoc with the plastic areas. Make sure you try it on a hidden area first. If that doesn't do the trick, an epoxy paint remover might be able to be used as a last resort. Sometimes, removers of some kinds of paint have no effects on others. Not sure if this the case with epoxy to alkyd enamel. If you don't want to try those, you might be able to scrape off most of it with a dull, steel implement. Good luck
