Thats exactly what you need...All RS wiring comes out...Except for the wiring thats attached to the components...For Example, the plug that goes to the doors, the guage cluster plugs, the ABS plugs, the Headlight plugs, all of these and all other electrical parts and their plugs stay in your car...Now you lay the whole WRX wiring in place and splice that to the RS plugs..You need to extend the A/C wiring as its on the other side of your car, you need to splice in the wiper motor wiring, you have to remember the wiring on the WRX is for a 4 door car with no sunroof...You need the fuel pump controller that mounts in the trunks passenger side panel of the WRX...I have pics but I don't think they came out really great...I will send them to North Ursalia for him to put up on his site...

I still need the wire diagram for the 2000 RS's Gauge Cluster...So, help me out if you can...

Ummmm...would this work?! I mean could you take the complete harness out of my car ( a 96 legacy) and just drop in the wrx harness and do some splicing? What about the lights,a/c and stuff like that? Just splice it? Why not use the wrx instrument cluster and dash too?

Thats exactly what you must do...Take the Entire Legacy harness out, drop in the entire WRX harness, splice all your components to the WRX harness, and remove all excess wires...The WRX wire harness is alot longer than my 2000 RS wire harness...I ended up hardwiring everything...There are no longer plugs that go to the doors, they are all wired directly to the main loom...The ABS sensors have to be wired up, the Windshield Wiper motor is under the cowl of the WRX and on the RS, its in the engine bay...The headlights are different on the WRX, so those are hardwired...Again, all plugs on your car's components stay attached to the component, you take the appropriate wires from the WRX for that component and splice it in...Soldering is the best way but I used Crimp on connectors and made sure all connections were very tight...I have pics but they suck...I need to get them on North Ursalia's site for reference and I hope it helps a little at least....

Wow:eek:! I guess that beats paying rallispec the big dollas to do it. Is there anything that didn't work out? Something like not having an extra wire to a light or a/c not working?

Yeah, I had the whole thing, so we pulled out the old, laid in the new, and spliced everything in...

Do you see any advantages of this over merging the two harnesses together? From what I have heard, it is much easier to leave the non engine related wires alone and just put in the wrx engine related wires. Most people suggest just merging them together.

I'm rather curious about this since I will be tackling this mid July.

I'm seriously considering using the WRX wiring for the engine bay to the ECU only because my car is an OBD1 vehicle and it would be easier than to add in all the extra wiring.

I don't know about the extra wiring...See, I don't have the wire diagram for the 2000 RS...I did it all with the wire diagram from the WRX and most of the RS wires are exactly the same...The plugs are different...Some wires are different...Everything was pulled from out of the RS including the inside fuse box...If you want to get really technical on whats involved contact Gustavo at TAVRacing...
