In the new issue of Sport Compact Car there's a 2001 J-spec rex that has a Tommy Kaira 2.2 engine in it. The thing is balls to the wall, claiming 355 HP & 325 lbft.......0-60 in 4.6, and quarter at just over 13.
They said that MotorEX sells the engine, and that it costs $4,300......so i've already started saving. my only question is, will it fit in my 01 GM6 ?? anyone knows more about this engine, or the swap i'd appreaciate it. Thanks in advance!

Its a bored and/or stroked EJ20. So it will bolt right up to any post 93 Subaru. Installation is the same as any WRX conversion. However I am a bit suspicious of their HP claims. I think they said the car ran a 13.4 quarter mile. I would think with 355 crank HP the car should be easily into the 12's.

I was under the assumption that it's just a stroker kit and not the entire motor but I could be wrong.

What's included for the $4300? Is that everything needed for the swap, or is that just the block and heads?

They didn't specify in the article, but it kind of sounded like its just a stroker kit and perhaps a few other parts for the $4300. I doubt its an entire built engine for that price.

Seems like a rip-off to me in light of the new motors coming on the scene from Subaru. I'm willing to bet that the 2.5t from either the forester or baja will put out as much power just as reliably - and I imagine it will cost far less than what he is charging.

I keep telling you guys my car isn't fast. How can it be? It's all stock except the exhaust! I haven't even hacked the stock airbox.

It's just a stroker kit. Remember the Tommykaira motor starts off as an STi so it already has way better heads...I doubt the power gains would be as impressive with our EJ205's
