ok so im doing a real easy swap 1.8-2.5 (2001) i have everything for the swap Im wondering on if theres any instructions or anything like wiring diagrams because the guy who might do it is a friend of mine, and has only done Honda swaps. He is great at those honda swaps completing em in matter of hours ( engines being pulled of course) and hes done the near impossible swaps and hes very knowledgable but has never worked ona suabru and doesnt know exactly where things are as for wiring and placing. so anyone where can i get the help i need for the swap

Swapping motors on a Subaru is nothing like a Honda. You have to build a complete wiring harness.

I have complete two engines , I have the new engines ECU, harness, sensors, ect the guy has done a USDM swap so i recieved everything literally, eh building harness is not aproblem as long as i can locate the wiring diagram. plus ive seen him throw together two harness for swaps in a day im just looking for the info and where ican get stuff like the wiring diagrams but i guess subaru will supply me with one if iask nicely (so im told ) , worse comes to worse i have a friend who does subaru swaps out of state he said he would come up ...Thanks though

so youre going from a 1.8 to a newer 2.5? is the 2.5 from an automatic car or a manual?? is the ECU you have for the 2.5 the one that goes with that engine? on the newer engines the ecu and a few other things were different between auto and manual trans cars such as the trigger ring for the crankshaft pos. sensor. I had wiring diagrams from the service manual for the 2000 engine but didnt for the 95' so my friendly dealership let me photocopy the wiring diagrams that i needed. With the two diagrams and both the 1.8 and 2.5 harnesses you can change the pins around and have a workign harness, just takes some time. My swap was alittle different because i retained the 1.8 computer. you shouldnt have any poblem.

I have a 2001 2.5 , yes im goin from 1.8- 2.5, i have the ecu and harnesses from the 2.5 and my 1.8 both are 5sp currently, I will be probably swapping in the matching tranny from the same car (2001 tranny) but i need to locate a rear LSD and shaft still. yeah thats what i was figuring just get the diagrams from the dealers and then swapping lines to make the pins match isnt a problem like i said. thanks for the help
