Just wanted everyone to know that the Optima orange( actually red now) top battery model number 34R fits suby's with no fitmment issues. The stock tray must be removed however, but the the tie down bar can be retained.;) have fun

What car, '02/newer or '01/older?
Fitment may be different for GC's/GD's, a 34 is a tighter fit AFAIK in the GD. I have a 35 and there isn't a lot of clearance so I don't see a 34 fitting easily. Unfortunately the orange top isn't made in 35.

sorry, that's 01 and older that's confirmed. I don't see how the GD wouldn't fit, it's got more room overall in the bay.;) keep in mind that the stock battery tray will have to be removed.:D

I had a 34R before I got the fmic and it fit fine without the tray.

cool, then both are confirmed, without the tray. I'd say I have about 1/4" of space till it hits the timing belt cover, if pushed all the way to the fender wall.

My 35 fits the tray perfectly with no room to spare so I can see why you would have to remove it to fit a 34. I'd like to see a 34 in a GD since I don't see a lot of clearance for it. Too bad the orange top isn't made in 35 as it would seem to be a perfect solution.
