Irish Mike's has told us at www.speedarena.com that they have a new engine ready for the next races that should be hot.
You can read the full story here. (http://www.speedarena.com/artman/publish/article_2612.shtml)

I'm curious if it is the AVCS EJ25 engine the STI has or just a Phase I style DOHC engine...

I spoke with Sam at Irish Mike's today and got a little more info on the engine.
It is not an STi based engine.
It is an engine that is available in other parts of the world, something we dont see in the US. Specifically out of the land down under. Sam told me they have been working with people from New Zealand and Australia with the developement of the dohc engine because it is used with great success down there. There has been a lot of development with the engine in that area of the world and they are using that knowledge to make this engine work in the Speed World Challenge.
They are excited. They are really looking forward to Mosport and Lime Rock and think that this engine will really be a strong asset to the team.

Ah, so its the JDM style AVCS EJ25 then :) Somewhat related to the STI engine, but without the block redesign and fancy turbo valves and such... Thats the engine that I would want for N/A power for sure, but with the STI engine here I was just curious if it might end up being cheaper to use those parts as a source.
Sounds great though, any idea how much those engines are costing them? (detuned and tuned)
