I didn't expect us to have sports shift - that's cool, but opnly on 4 speed... Is that what's in Forrester as well?

Baja Turbo also has 5 spd, moonroof, leather combo. That combo is not available on the XT. XT Premium Package is auto, moonroof, leather.

That is probably the same VTD 4eAT that is available in the current 2.5GT. I hope Subaru uses this unit in the WRX and XT when the Legacy line gets the VTD 5eAT-Sportshift in the BL/BP. That unit will probably find its way into the Baja.

Driven by guts inside!

I've posted this same link in several other threads, but here it is again.

Official specifications and details are available on Subaru's media web page. Address is http://www.media.subaru.com Click on "Baja" on the left side, then the links for turbo specs and turbo at-a-glance on the right.

They have good stuff like gear ratios etc.

Sadly, SOA confirmed there will be no manual shift initially (no ETD), but will be later. Dealer insists no manual, period. I'm waiting for it to come out...

I'm in the same situation as you. Turbo or not w/ the baja but w/ 4eat. Anyone w/ the outback w/ 4eat: does it have enough poer? The baja is 3500 lbs so extra wight over the TS I have and my old MY99 Legacy at 3100 lbs.

Will the 2.5L be enough or is the turbo the way to go?
Thanks

I test-drove a n/a Baja with AT and found it surprisingly gutless. I guess I am spoiled by my WRX, but the n/a Baja felt totally dead. I also drove a Forester XT (turbo). Even with AT, that felt amazingly strong. I doubt I could ever go back to a sub-200-hp car.

i don't know why but i test drove both the automatic and manual before i went with the manual. The auto is just completely unrewarding- if you tried the maual you might be singing a different toon. It's tolerable with a manual.

I found my Baja MT has decent pickup. Since I finally did my 1k change, I've been playing with it a bit, and it's not too bad, feels better than my old truck, my a bit slower than my old car (at least definately in the lower RPMs). I haven't driven another Subaru car ever though, so I can't compare it to a WRX or another model.

i think if i'd compare it to any car i would have to compare it too my 2.5rs it came up just shy of that car in totall performance. However the tires NEED to be changed they are simply no where near even the stock re92's from the rs. Honestly i think all they do is squeal under heavy driving.

oh well. point of the matter is try the manual before you make your decision. It really does feel like a different car.

Acelleration wise the Baja-turbo with the sportshift feels about as fast as a stock 2.5RS,I have not riven the 5 spd yet but i imagine it will be a bit faster.

Hi, looking at http://photos.yahoo.com/kalexsti (great picture, kind of small, by the way), Sportshift (AT) doesn't have steering mounted shift button. I was under impression it would have it, but not - is this vehicle produciton version due in Nov? Can anyone confirm? Any other place you can see sportshift model?
