As I was browsing the new Subaru website, I noticed a phone number to call for service manuals. So I choose to call and ask about the 2002 WRX.

Available in around 2 weeks, the 8 volumes will be around $370 (didn't write down exact amount)

8 volumes sounds like the old manuals. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif

Did you get part numbers? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif [edit: cool!]

Was it Helm that you called?

Go to www.subaru.com (http://www.subaru.com)

click FAQ

you will see this.....

How can I get Service Manuals for my Subaru?

You can purchase genuine Subaru Service Manuals from FedWorld at 1-800-378-3377.

I had to leave a message for them to call back. I don't know why it would include the old manuals, or why it would be. Since I specifically ask for 2002 WRX Service Manuals. But 8 volumes does seem like a lot. I might buy one if someone doesn't buy one with-in the first month or so and give details on it.

8 "volumes" doesn't seem like a lot to me, it's a whole new chassis. New powertrain too for North America.

Wasn't the 2000 manual less volumes than this (and it replaced the larger prior set).

LOL,Now all I have to do is quit my job so I'll have time to disassemble and draw all day.

Our dealer just got all eight manuals today. I was flipping through a few of them for reference. BTW, if any of you are using a connector kit/harness for an aftermarket headunit on you current Impreza (all MY's) you'll be happy to know that all the connections to the main connector for the back of the radio is identical the the MY02http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Glenn: I'm not sure who Helm is? But it was a girl that answered who said that the manuals were new, and that she highly recommeneded us getting all eight, as things were somewhat scrambled around, despite being split into catagories.

She said next thursday, and these are being shipped out of Pennsauken NJ (Incidentally, about 10 mins from Cherry Hill facility).

How helpful are service manuals to a virtual novice? If you have relatively little experience, can the service manuals alone help you stumble through things without totally screwing everything up?

Helm is a place that handles a lot of OE manuals and used to handle Subaru. Looks like they don't know.

I wonder if subaruparts.com will stock them?

Maybe a dumb question...but can you get the volumes on cd so you can search through it and print anything you may need to take out to the car with you? Maybe this wouldnt be so expensive.

I *WISH* they were on CD - but this isn't the DSM list http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif

anyway, just got a call from SOA today, the manuals are in stock, check out the toll free number at the site. 371 and change + shipping... I'm driving my bored self down to score a set today!

Subaruparts.com just checked and his price is ~$337. He can't order them just yet --- so just hang tight. (I am willing to, to save $40 --- I'm cheap!)
