View Full Version : Gage Pak
wrxcanada 02-24-2001, 12:05 PM What are the opions on the gauge pak? Has anyone order their WRX with the gauge pack. I have seen 2 different versions of this option. One with digital display and another with 3 analog dials. I liked the analog dials better.
Check out this link for the digitial kits in grey and beige.

Aquavir 02-24-2001, 12:14 PM I'm getting the compass mirror; I don't think I really need the alt. or barometer, but I would like to have temp. Anyway, the performance pack is ugly; I think I might look into getting a single Boost gauge. Any thoughts?
wrxcanada 02-24-2001, 12:16 PM I knew I had seen a picture of the analog gauges. Check out the 6th photo down on this page. By the way, these pictures might change your mind on the red color WRX. WOW.

wrxcanada 02-24-2001, 12:19 PM I have heard other people say the performance pak is ugly too. It seems to look like an after thought stuck on the dash. Although, checkout the analog gauges in the red WRX link. They don't look bad.

Aquavir 02-24-2001, 12:21 PM thanks, that is pretty sharp.
Aquavir 02-24-2001, 12:27 PM I think if I wanted all three gauges, I would get them mounted individualy up the left side of the car, between the windshield and drivers side window (what is that chunk of car called?). I think the Subaru pak does look like an afterthough. It's just a chunk of gauges. Plus (although I haven't seen it in person) I think I like the recessed clock there.
SilverSubie 02-24-2001, 12:35 PM thats called the a-pillar. the only problem is when you get too many gauges there it can make it hard to see sometimes in corners, i'm still gonna put acoupke there but i was just lettin you know

Aquavir 02-24-2001, 12:38 PM thanks...that makes sense.
SoCalVeracity 02-24-2001, 12:48 PM Aquavir, What exactly do you get with the electrochromatic compass mirror? Auto dimming? Altimeter? External Temperature? How is it displayed? Interested. Appreciate any response on this . . .
ANZAC_1915 02-24-2001, 07:42 PM Yeah, the Subaru gauge pack looks awful --- looks home made!!!
I did order the mirror though, same as the current one they offer.
I do like the auto-dimming in our other car.

Bunuel 02-24-2001, 09:00 PM May I make a prediction here? I predict we will be getting the STi style gage hood as a dealer option next year. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

ANZAC_1915 02-24-2001, 11:01 PM I hear we will get more STi stuff.
I was also told they're holding on loading the parts into their computer system until "the date", which is why most of the stuff on my upgrades page doesn't price at SubaruParts.com (yet).

Aquavir 02-25-2001, 01:01 AM I'm pretty sure it's just a compass and auto-dimming. It might be the same one that is currently available with the Legacy GT.
wrxcanada 02-25-2001, 01:16 AM Here are the other pictures of the analog gauges from the detroit auto show. Again, they look kinda ugly. Looks like someone took at jigsaw to the dash to cut a hole to fit the package.

WRXwaiting 02-28-2001, 10:41 PM Can't believe I missed this before, but I love that boost gage in front of the tach. It makes me wonder if this is an option... anyone know?
ANZAC_1915 02-28-2001, 11:05 PM Later this year....

At that price, i am just gonna buy the housing or get a pillar gauge pod and put some Autometer Ultra Lites in there (silver ones) or if i have the extra cash get the Greddy or OMORI ones.
Boost, oil pressure, EGT.
Stock gauge pak is a rip!!!

Group buy here. (http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum2/HTML/004313.html)
allbent 03-01-2001, 07:14 AM Sorry, but I believe this group buy is closed....sounds like there may be another in a couple of months.....
Adam
Porter 03-01-2001, 07:35 AM It's actually the same gauge pack offered on the JDM STi. Manufactured by Nippon Seiki, under the Defi brand. You can buy them directly from Nippon Seiki, the group buy was just to save some money. Even buying one kit at a time it's significantly cheaper than the STi option.
