I am not going to be able to afford the new WRX until September or October which leaves me a little curious as to whether or not there will be any available. Does anyone have any information as to what the availability will be like then?

Yep, me too. I'll be looking for a Silver wagon on the east coast in October.

Have you contacted any dealers as to how difficult it will be to get one then or are you just going to order it then?

I've just been told by a dealer that if I wait 'til June there's a serious possibility they'll all be gone.

Could be the usual BS though....

I don't know about that - the leadtime in Australia has been a fairly steady 3 months or more.
The first year they only sold less than 300 in the whole country and now sell that many in a month when a new model comes out (remember there is only 20 million Australians so that is equal to 3000+ a month here in the US!)
All it took was for it to blow away anything else for the money

I don't think there will be a problem. They said there was going to be limited number of Outback LLB and VDC, but look they are everywhere. I don't think they will be everywhere like the Outback, but I don't think there will be shortages. I think it will be only die hard Subie fans that'll buy into it. I guess we'll see.

I know of a couple dealers who don't even plan to carry them until next fall (they're basically clueless about the Rex and are planning on selling them with the other 2002 models). I think the main rush is going to be the preorders, and then the people who order once they test drive. After that, it should calm down a little, and you'll be able to get one within a month or so of when you order it, depending on what time of month you order and the dealer's delivery dates.
