Is that correct? I would also like to confirm that the #1 bushings actually fit the USDM WRX chassis. They use a wider bushing than the older chassis and nobody that I have seen actually makes these bushings.

Safir 05-30-2003, 03:58 PM damnit dave quit getting neat new stuff!
got some questions for you at the next meet you make it to
but most importantly, are the lateral links designed for the GD sedan or the wagon/GC cars? i know theyll fit either but it affects your range of adjustment swapping them
OAKOS Automotive 05-30-2003, 04:02 PM Yes, these are bushings 1 & 2 in the diagram. As far as the application, I specifically requested parts for the USDM WRX from Noltec. However, I am not completely confident that these are the correct bushings. Do you know the dimensions of the bushings? I can measure these bushings for comparison. Also, I will see if I can get a definitive confirmation from Noltec that these are in fact the correct bushings for the USDM WRX's. I think it's Saturday down there in OZ right now so I probably won't get a reply for a few days.
-Dave
stimpy 05-30-2003, 04:08 PM Unfortunately, I don't have the dimensions. They can be found on the cast aluminum control arms for the sedan if you have any of those handy. If you can confirm that they are the correct bushings (the front ones that is) then I'll order them up.
-Jon
OAKOS Automotive 05-30-2003, 05:09 PM Joe,
I'll see what I can find out about the lateral links. I'm going to try to make it to the Wednesday night meet, hopefully it'll be at Big Buck again. :)
Jon,
I don't have any of the aluminum control arms. I will see what I can find out.
-Dave
TheWRX 05-30-2003, 07:36 PM Man, I know that you always respond quickly, but this time you answered before I even asked! I was looking at suspension bushings on your web site yesterday, and was wondering when the missing pieces would be back in stock. You're doing mind reading now? ;)
Your web site shows the "Rear Trailing Arm Bushings, Front" as sold out. Did they go this quickly, or is your computer confused?
Since you're also selling some Forge products, do you happen to have an idea how these compare to the Forge bushings (which seem to be identical to the Powerflex ones)? Those cost more, and both are polyurethane, so the Noltec look like the better deal.
The temptation of buying more goodies...
OAKOS Automotive 06-02-2003, 10:13 AM TheWRX,
Miss Cleo just got out of prison so I've hired her on here to help make projections for us. :D ;)
Sometimes the inventory tracking system on the website needs a little manual intervention. I got it straightened out so the bushings are now listed as "in stock". I haven't seen any of the Forge bushings yet so I can't really make any comparisons between those and the Noltec parts.
-Dave
Safir 06-02-2003, 10:49 AM pending answers to the fitment question i am currently interested in the lateral links and a bishing to replace 8 on that diagram.
also did i ever get around to asking you my wheel question? i'm thinking of retiring the Prod-rive's for some real rotas, but cant confirm avaliability of what I want.
wednesday will be at shores this week, Fred's brother is bringing fred's car out so we're having it there in his honor. don't worry, ALL the north side guys are whining for another norht side meet.
OAKOS Automotive 06-02-2003, 11:01 AM Joe,
I will definitely be at Shores on Wednesday night. :( I wish Fred could have seen Montoya win Monaco yesterday.
I don't think you asked me about the wheels yet. I'll bring a list on Wednesday of what I am expecting with the next shipment.
-Dave
Safir 06-02-2003, 11:42 AM I'll bet you dinner you're not getting what i want :(
looking for battles in gold, gunmetal, or bronze.. black would do as well, just about anything but silver... i know they made them but can't ever find any.
OAKOS Automotive 06-03-2003, 11:54 AM Joe,
Oh yeah, you're all about the Battles. Rota only has them in white right now and it doesn't look like they will be getting any more Battles for several weeks. I will definitely keep my eye out for them when I place the next order.
-Dave
stimpy 06-03-2003, 01:43 PM Have you been able to find out if those are, in fact, the front control arm front bushings?
-Jon
OAKOS Automotive 06-03-2003, 01:44 PM Jon, No word yet. I will let you know as soon as I get any information. :)
-Dave
stimpy 06-03-2003, 01:54 PM Great, thanks. I was also curious about the front control arm, rear bushings. Since I'll be using the control arms off of a GF chassis, do you know if those bushings will fit or do I need to source them specifically for the GF/GC chassis?
-Jon
wlelandj 06-03-2003, 02:05 PM Hello, I was wondering if you could describe or maybe you have a diagram as to where the Noltec Differential Cradle Mounts and Noltec Differential Outrigger Bushings mount? Thanks.
-Leland
OAKOS Automotive 06-03-2003, 02:49 PM Jon,
For what it's worth, Superpro, who is another Australian bushing manufacturer (they make a lot of stuff for Whiteline), has the same part numbers for the front and rear bushings of the front control arms for both the GC and new age Imprezas. Judging by that I'd say that the bushings are in fact the same.
Leland,
In the diagram above that stimpy posted the diff cradle mounts are #11 and the diff outrigger bushings are #8.
-Dave
US2JDM 06-03-2003, 03:02 PM Are the steering rack bushings only 02+?? Do you have ones for the GC?
OAKOS Automotive 06-03-2003, 03:14 PM Funny you should ask, I am trying to figure that out right now. The Noltec importer that I get this stuff from says that they fit both the newer and older cars but the information that I am seeing indicates that they are different. The steering bushings for the newer Imprezas are apparently about 5mm wider than the bushings in the GC cars. They will fit on the GC chassis cars but at this point I'm not recommending it. I asked about this discrepency in the email I sent to Noltec so we'll see what they have to say about it. I will report any news here. Thanks! :)

That's too bad that they have the same part number listed for both because they are not the same part. To use a GF /GC control arm with the WRX crossmember, you need to shim the front bushing with washers. Could you maybe get the width of the bushing? I might be able to take a set of calipers to a WRX control arm to compare.
Thanks,
-Jon
[EDIT] PS: Sorry for the hassle. These seem to be a very elusive part...
OAKOS Automotive 06-04-2003, 12:02 PM Jon,
The outer metal sleeve is 41mm wide and the overall width is 55mm. I hope this helps! :)

Safir 06-04-2003, 01:04 PM Dave - do you have something to replace #8 in the diagram above? would that be these: Noltec Differential Outrigger Bushings - $48
That is all I need to finish firming up the rear end :)
OAKOS Automotive 06-04-2003, 01:23 PM Yep, the diff outrigger bushings are #8 in the diagram above. I'll bring some tonight so you can check them out in person. :)

damn you! ;)
guess i should bring some $$ with me then too 'eh?
these can sit next to my sti diff cradle bushings for while...
stimpy 06-06-2003, 09:34 AM Dave, the STi front control arm front bushings (that are no longer sold because they are incompatible with the new-age WRX) are also 55mm long. Since this is the width of the older chassis, do you know how Noltec recommends using these bushings when they aren't actually wide enough?
-Jon
fellfrosch7 06-06-2003, 10:04 AM I ordered the steering rack mount bushings, but they showed up as 26.95 in the cart... Is that including shipping, or are they $23 shipped? My email is same as my user name @ hotmail.com.
OAKOS Automotive 06-06-2003, 01:15 PM Jon, I don't have any idea. I am still waiting to hear back from Noltec regarding these issues. In the mean time I have pulled them from the catalog and if Noltec doesn't give me some definitive information I'll just stop carrying these bushings all together. Thanks for bringing this to my attention though, it would be tragic if someone ripped their car all a part to only to find that they don't fit.
fellfrosch7, Thanks a lot for your order! I changed the price to include shipping, it is cheaper that way because USPS Priority Mail will get them to you in the same amount of time as UPS but it is $2-$4 cheaper. I'll send you a shipment confirmation email later today after they are shipped. Thanks again! :)
-Dave
stimpy 06-06-2003, 03:54 PM Thanks for looking into it Dave. I'd really like to hear what they have to say because they would be ideal for my application. If not, then I may have to just buy the steering bushing and leave it at that.
Thanks,
-Jon
OAKOS Automotive 06-09-2003, 02:29 PM Jon, No problem. I really hope we can get to the bottom of this. :)
-Dave
OAKOS Automotive 06-09-2003, 02:30 PM The differential outrigger bushings are sold out. I will be ordering more tonight or tomorrow so they should get here from Australia in about a month.
-Dave
stimpy 06-09-2003, 06:32 PM Dave, I just placed an order for the steering rack bushings and some speed bleeders. :) (make it worth your trouble :p)
Hopefully we can find out about those other bushings so I can order them too.
Appreciate it,
-Jon
Safir 06-09-2003, 07:18 PM hey dave - I need a new swaybar (long story) what you got that will fit my car (front and rear) and how much?
be at any meets coming up? i've got your $$
slater 06-10-2003, 12:43 AM bump for dave, who rocks. :)
i've gotten noltec steering rack bushings for my WRX and my GF's MY01 RS from dave and they are absolutely the best $26 you'll spend on the car (i'm also enjoying the comfort ALK i got from him too :D).
peter
OAKOS Automotive 06-10-2003, 07:46 AM Jon, Thanks a lot for your order! I will send you a shipment confirmation email later today after they are shipped. I still haven't heard back from Noltec regarding the bushings. I will report back here as soon as I hear anything. :)
Joe, The only sway bars I have here are the Progress adjustable front and rear bars. They are made for the WRX so unfortunately they won't be much help to you. Do you know where Wednesday's meet will be this week?
Peter, Thanks a lot for the bump! :)
-Dave
stimpy 06-23-2003, 05:18 PM Did you ever hear back from Noltec on those bushings?
-Jon

It's funny you should ask, I was just wondering the same thing! :)
OAKOS Automotive 06-24-2003, 12:19 PM Unfortunately, no, I haven't heard anything at all back from them. I just forwarded the original email to the US importer and distributor, hopefully he can get a response from the guys down under.
-Dave
stimpy 06-24-2003, 12:28 PM Thanks Dave,
-Jon
OAKOS Automotive 06-24-2003, 12:56 PM No problemo Jon. :)
-Dave
stimpy 06-26-2003, 03:45 PM You can forward this image to them if you would like. This is a GC chassis with a WRX crossmember and GC control arms. Note the shims in the front control arm front bushing. It is obviously wider than previous years.

-Jon
OAKOS Automotive 06-26-2003, 04:52 PM Thanks for the pic Jon. I will forward it to both Noltec and the U.S. importer/distributor. Hopefully, we can get some useful information out of someone soon. :)
-Dave
OAKOS Automotive 07-30-2003, 11:55 AM The steering rack bushings and diff bushings are now back in stock! :)
-Dave
OAKOS Automotive 09-03-2003, 12:30 PM The adjustable rear lateral links are sold out. I am not sure when we will be getting more in stock.
-Dave
OAKOS Automotive 09-15-2003, 11:41 PM The steering rack bushings are sold out. We should be getting more pretty soon.
