WOW. I have used Rain-X on my other cars before but have never done my SVX LSI. WOW. Shortly after I got done applying the two coats I put on (and buffed off) it started to rain. WOW. Perfect test to see how well I had applied it. WOW. Jumped in the car and went up on to the highway. WOW. It just ran right off the windows(I did all of them). WOW. The rake of the windshield definetly helps Rain-X do it's job on our cars. WOW. In conjuction to doing the windows with Rain-X I also put on new wipers and blades( a gift for my baby for doing so well in this crappy heat http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif ). WOW. One BIG difference from before. WOW. If you haven't used Rain-x before I would strongly reccomend it. WOW. If not doing your windows with Rain-X I would still strongly reccomend replacing your windsheild wiper blades if you have not done so far a while http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

Maybe i'm just so impressed because i've been driving with the diesel stains on my front windshield for quite a while now. STUPID truck driver(Ya i'm still bitter).

Hey Bob! I sent you a Personal Message the other day about making specialist. Did you get it? That feature is on the left-top of the main bulletin board page. I don't even know if it works or not.

(Shameless Plug)
Amsoil also carries a windshield rain product called 'Rain Clear'. Works good.

Beware of Rain-X. You may rue the day you applied this Mephistolian fluid to your windows. The only way to remove it is with a brick or small boulder. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/frown.gif

I honestly hope that they have changed the formula of Rain-X. I have heard too many horror stories to even let of sealed bottle of it sit in my glove box.

http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/eek.gif What kind of stories?

I applied something similar (not Rain-X brand) this past winter and have not had any problems (yet?).

I've always stayed away from rain X because of it's enviromental impact but every few months I take my car to the car wash and spray the windows with the hot wax option in it. Works great, doesn't last as long as rain x but its much better for the enviroment...

CRZ_MSL, why would you want to take it OFF of your windows? My biggest problem is keeping it ON! I love the stuff! I even put it on my side glass, mirrors, headlights and tail lights. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/tongue.gif They stay cleaner and they're easier to wash. I have never heard anything about the environmental impact Rain-X causes. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/eek.gifWhat are the details on that? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/confused.gif

Rain X is a petroleum product which means that it is not the best for the enviroment, contaminates drinking water etc. as it comes off in the rain. It's no different than most over the counter tire cleaners and products like that. Hot wax from car washes is not (at least in PA) a petroleum product. State law requires all chemicals used in PA car washes to be enviromentally friendly. As for cleaning and shining wheels I clean with biodegradable soap and then use a water and veg. oil solution to spray the wheels and rub in. Yeah, it's a little more work and doesn't last quite as long (close though) but you don't have to worry about a dog drinking from a puddle in the driveway either and it is cheaper too.

Interesting stuff - I'll have to try the hot wax spray and see how it works, although I admit I'm a little suspicious about what the "hot wax" here in WV actually is! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/eek.gif

Yeah, I'd be a little suspicious of just about everything in WV. But then again it can't be that bad because it hasn't ruined the beauty of the state yet. Just spray it on the windows then let it sit for 15-20 seconds then spray the windows with the spot free rinse. It'll bead up and just roll right off.

From what I recall, Rain-X is the neatest thing since windshield wipers IF you live in an area where you get lots of rain. If you are in an area that does not get much rain, or goes long periods between rains, you may have problems with the Rain-X fogging up/ hazing/ making it unpleasant to look through your windshield.
